I have noticed that a lot of Bukkit staff, people who have been with Bukkit since the beginning, have resigned. Here is a chronological list of staff that have resigned.

It breaks my heart to see you all go.

We users and plugin developers thank you all for your large contributions to this project. You've not only shaped a very large part of the multiplayer community, but you've allowed us plugin developers to explore our talents in Java programming and help the massive Minecraft community. Without you, our projects would not have even been approved. Without most of you, Bukkit would not even exist. You will never be forgotten. Your names will be enscribed in our hearts and in Minecraft history forever. You've contributed so much to the Minecraft and Bukkit world.

And we thank you for it.

I actually did tear up when I heard that all these wonderful people, some of them who even approved my plugin releases, are leaving. I got even more emotional when I saw their names say "Retired Staff". It's truly sad.
