    Hello,

I just created a server, but i just want to play on it with my friends and family. I have the server set up with a whitelist and a max of five players so only my friends and I can play on it. However, every few seconds I get an ip address that tries to connect and fail. So many of them is slowing down my server, and I'm wondering what I can do about it.

iPodwithnomusic I highly doubt you are getting DDoS'd, but that is a possibility. Most likely, it is a game or program on you computer talking to some outside server, and using the same port as your MC server.

If you are getting DDoS'd, or Distributed Denial of Service 'd, I'm not sure what you can do. Just wait for it to blow over. I'll try pinging a few of those IP's for you, and seeing what happens. Maybe I can figure something out.

Looks like none of the IP's exist any more, as far as I can tell. So that tells me it is a proxy of sorts...

  3. As the other person said, maybe you were getting a DDoS attack, but thats unlikely.

i think it is a portscanner or something: different ports.
but i think it is a config-problem too: bukkit is accepting connections that are on different ports than usual

There isn't a fixed port for minecraft clients, they use one free port (like almost every client does).
