Can't OP Myself, Tried Everything

I Recently made a bukkit server and tried to OP myself. Ive seen other threads and tried to OP myself in the .cmd promt but it says "FAILED TO BIND TO PORT" and i tried in the ops.txt file and it didnt work either. Please help?

 

Easy! The problem is that at the top it said a server is running on that port. So you must already have a server running on that computer, this will work if you do it right:

Either get rid of that other server so people don't need to add a port to the end because the default is 25565.

Your other option is to go into server-properties, and change it from the default port, 25565, to something else. WARNING! Some ports play conflict with programs on your computer, so try changing it to 25564, but when somebody connects to your server, please note, that, when they enter the IP, they must add :25564 to the end of it, if that's what you change it to.


Also, the problem with the op.txt, is that there is a new OP format. You probably don't know the new one.

 

I deleted the other server and it still says failed to bind port. I then went into the server properties and changed it to 25564. I then loaded the server and added :25564 to the end of the server. Was i not suppose to do that?

 

It should work now.
