I port forwarded with my D-LINK DIR-825 Name: Minecraft Ip: From whatsmyip.org Application Name: Blank Computer Name: Blank TCP: 25565 UDP: 25565 Schedule: Always Inbound Filter: Allow All Then I PUT MY ip into minecraft but it didn't work I made sure the server.properties was blank. My IP adress didn't work but my hamachi adress did work. then I put my IP in server properties and I got a message in console
If you're hosting it, you have to type in "localhost" and if you want friends to connect, first get them to join your hamachi group and than give them the ip hamachi gives you.
No i'm trying to run a real server this is NOT hamachi rustehiscool Edit* I forgot 2 Tahg u This is not a Hamachi Server I have Hamachi but I didn't put the Hamachi IP in server.properties. Do I have to uninstall hamachi for it to register as a real server? I port forwarded 25565 with my public IP not my Hamachi one. When I left everything in server.properties alone I couldn't connect with my Public IP I could only connect with my Hamachi IP. When I put my public IP in server.properties it said it failed to bind? Please tell me what to do. Would it work if I started from scratch and followed your instuctions? HELP!!!
Jesus mate, ever heard of Google? Countless others have your exact same problem xD. 1. Get an internal static IP. 2. Portforward that same IP ^. 3. Put that IP in your server.properties. 4. Google the word, "IP" 5. Take the number Google gives you(external IP), put it in your MC address. 6. Join the server.
EDIT: Here's a mirror for future visitors. Assuming you're using Windows (server window), I used to use http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-static-ip It's a very simple/lightweight program that only needs to be run once.
MaliciousMan Instead of getting a 3rd party program, that many people would think is unsafe, you can go to your router and reserve an internal IP for the computer hosting the server. Reserving lets the router assign the same IP to that computer every time it connects, thus removing the trouble of the router possibly rejecting the IP the computer is requesting(ie. out of range in settings or already in use).
Gamecube762 I don't believe you know how much trouble it is to manually assign a static IP to a Windows machine. I simply provided the fastest, easiest, and most simple solution in my opinion. Also if we're going to debate over safer approaches towards running a Bukkit server, I don't believe using Windows is the best option. As much as I'd like to get mad at you, I freaking love your isMinecraftDown plugin... xD haha
MaliciousMan When I first started server hosting, I spent hours trying to manually assign a static IP to a Windows machine XD I think I know how much trouble it is. I found reserving the IP to be much more easier and successful. I'm not looking to debate either, I just usually just state what has worked better when i was in the same spot. Also sorry if it seems I was trying to make you mad, and thanks for the feedback on my plugin, tell me if you have any suggestions. =P
Gamecube762 vodit51321 Having the router control what IP each machine has, is a good option, I just liked that program because my old router loved to reset, and I wasn't allowed to tamper too much with the settings. Whatever option you want, I compiled this small list of them: Router reserves IP(DHCP) - LINK Program to enable static IP(StaticIP) - LINK x2 Manually assign a static IP(all versions of Windows) - LINK
