   I am trying to create a server and whenever I type chmod a+x and press enter and then drag start_server.command it says Permission Denied

   Permissions on OS X work pretty much like on a linux box, are you doing this as admin/root?
   
   Also,
   
   

   first chmod, then drag and drop, then return.
