Solved Essentials chat

Hi there,
This might sound really stupid to some people but I just can't figure it out!
Im using essentials chat and group manager. I am just wandering if anyone can tell me how do i get rid of the apostrophes in the chat. Its nothing major but I find it really annoying.
If i don't use any format, they disappear but then I'm stuck with boring white and grey chat!
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Also now that I have enabled change-displayname so that people can use /nick, users names now have quotation marks around them. I really don't want any apostrophes or quotation marks
anywhere in the chat.

 

Can you post the format you are using?

 

I think this is group's suffix in GroupManager.

 

The apostrophes are before and after the line in the chat, so probably something with the chat format defined in chatManager or something similar.

 

Owner: ‘&9[{GROUP}]&d {DISPLAYNAME}&7:&b {MESSAGE}'
This is the format I am using. Its not the GroupManager suffix because those options are empty.

 

Replace the ' with "

 

Your first apostrophe isn't actually an apostrophe. Stop editing it in Wordpad/Microsoft word and use Notepad instead (or if you're using a mac, use TextEdit with rich text disabled)

 

I am using textedit and rich text is disabled.

I tried replacing the ' with " but then that showed up in the chat instead of the apostrophes.

Anyoneelse have any ideas?

Try it without the quotes or copy this one: ' before and after the line.

 

Thankyou nlthijs48, I copied and pasted the ' from a part of the config i hadn't altered and it worked!
I still have the quotation marks around the name though. Do you know how I could fix that? They go away when I disable change-username but i need that to be enabled for players to use /nick.

Thanks all for your help, I have fixed it now. Thank you nlthijs48. I replaced all the ' in prefix and suffix in group manager with the ' i had copied and now everything looks good in the chat!

May I ask how you made that mark?

 

Press the key that is left to the lower part of the big enter key, so the one with " and ' on it. This is what my keyboard looks like, maybe the same key is in another position on your keyboard layout.
