I was wondering I notice @Grum working his butt on 1.5 but overall not talking about 1.5 it seams that Bukkit has come to a halt since 1.4 if not before that. The updates are really becoming slow and hell even @EvilSeph has more commits recently then everyone else haha that is just not right <3

I was wondering if you guys were working hard on some private repo's or if everyone is taking a break or if their was a split or a fight or what is going on.

I'm not complaining but seeing like a 1000% drop in commits does have me a bit worried.

    Thanks,
    Kane

PS: This not pertaining to 1.5 and chop chop just overall for the past couple weeks.

Tell me what you want. Bukkit has no more that much lags to make a new build every hour.

New build? You really should not engage in a conversation unless you know what your talking about let alone have the answer.

wow, so why we are still at 0.0.1 ALPHA ? If the software is rock-solid as you say, we would be 1.0 :D

You said updates. Updates = new craftbukkit build right?

@spunkiie i didnt say rocksolid, i said no more taht much bugs/lags to make new builds hourly

Updates as in commits not compiles or recommended builds.

Kane what about you programming bukkit or another server mod since you are so obsessed of them being slow, even though they are doing it in their spare/freetime, and doing it on a beta game. Be patient, like the rest of us.

I'm not even asking them to speed up I asked what is up.. I asked several things like did the group split up are they taking a break and such. I asked nothing more then information not a speed up... I just wanted to know. One thing bukkit lacks is communication. The preview was suppose to release how many months ago? I'm just saying there is a massive amount of bad communication.

Tbh, if i were a Bukkit dev. I would rather spend my time developing Bukit than wasting my time always telling everybody what is up.

If I was a bukkit dev I probably take my pants off and see how many of you leap over to them...

Well, they just released 2 RB's in a week to fix the security flaws.

For the most part, CraftBukkit is working great.

    Not sure what you want...

I was not even talking about updates and how well its working. We all know Minecraft is beyond flawed and the 100's of CPU issue threads leaking all over the place. This might be something talked about in another thread.

Again everyone here keeps fanboying take the time to read just wondering what the the status of the dev team...

Here is my 2 cents, its kinda hard to stay excited about a project that is never going to get the licensing it needs to be released. Its a great project, makes minecraft more fun an stuff, but they started this 4 or 5 months ago with the thought that notch would license it so they could release it. Notch is never going to license bukkit, mojang is going to release their own api and this will never be released.

So they have developed bukkit, got it working pretty well and now will maintain it until mojang releases their api. Not much else they can do, again you can't release other peoples software with out a license and bukkit doesn't have one.

I much prefer the slow development cycle, both as a server admin and someone who rights plugins. We have most of the API we need and more updates would just mean frequent breakage in out plugins. It is stupid and useless to ask that they start breaking stuff daily again.

after the API is relised bukkit could do a total reright of the server. and make it there own, outher games have done it i think crags mod could be one of them, but i could be wrong.
a reright of bukkit? but that in C+ or something if i knew programming i would

I'm pretty sure the development has been focused around finding and fixing exploits. The devs are still very active on the IRC chats, and we have seen builds as recently as today (pre 1.5 though they may be).

Meh, not sure if I should quote this since you can't see the post. Mods should feel free to delete this if it's inappropriate.

Just because you don't percieve work to be happening doesn't mean it isn't happening. I see you complain a LOT on here. Why not try some constructive contributions some time?

aPunch's Top Reasons Why Bukkit Has Been "Too Slow" Lately

Reason 1: Bukkit has hit a code freeze due to the impending updates (1.5 and the inevitable 1.5_01)

    Reason 2: Portal 2.

    Reason 3: People like Kane.
