If you're using Essentials, add the following node to your groups file: - -essentials.ping Basically it gives the user an idea of how the latency with the server is.
User: Ping Server [active]: Pong w/latency User: Ping Server [unactive]: No response ----- Basically what the ping does is it allows one server/computer to sent a packet to another computer, if ping is enabled on the other computer it will reply back with a 'pong'. The latency is calculated by how long it takes for it to receive a reply back (just guessing here). Pinging is good for many things, for example externally checking if a server is working. A ping is not harmful in any way, but if too many are sent (I mean heaps) it can cause connection problems, but it's really rare you ever see someone DDoS a site with a PING (because it's just not enough to take down a site/server)
Necrodoom , stephano013 Oh, right. Well the /ping command basically replies pong, as per my example above. It will check to see is there's any server lagg/connection problems (slow connection) - You know when you get that feeling that you might be lagging, and you want to know if you are or not; well /ping is great for that! You can have it enabled if you like, there's no harm done!
