How old can a tutorial be?

Hi!

I am trying to make my own plugins but I can't find that many tutorials that is less than 2 years old. So my questions is, how old can a tutorial be for it to work? Like, do a tutorial from 2011 still work?

Who needs books if we have the internet!

 

Tutorials 2 years old can still work, only thing that would out date them is if something was changed in Bukkit and the tutorials weren't updated.

 

I still don't like any of the tutorials and find them difficult to use even though I know Java. The way I learned was I downloaded a simple open-source plugin and used it as a template for my plugins. There are a bunch of little annoying things you have to do like adding the Plugin.yml, registering commands, etc.
