Plugin category: WGen Suggested name: Sphereworld 2 What I want: There used to be a pretty amazing plugin called Sphereworlds (https://forums.bukkit.org/threads/i...ld-v0-5-creates-a-world-of-spheres-953.18557/) that basically revolutionized the server I had back then. It created a world consisting of glass spheres, resources were very limited and thus players really cooperated a lot together, travelling from sphere to sphere finding the resources they needed to finally build their own little towns in spheres. Occasionally they'd fight over these precious resources - it looked beautiful and magical and it had the fresh and fun feel of a new survival server constantly, no matter how much players were spread along. It was lovely. I added a zombie mod myself to really create a Walking Dead-like "survive the apocalypse" feel and a perma dead mod to make people really care. We had people who only knew each other for a few hours get genuinely sad when their friend fell to their impendent doom, and organize group quests to pick up newly arriving survivors to join their community before the zombies or more aggressive survivor groups killed them for their precious few resources. Others used it for beautiful creative servers. I feel that this really is a game changing plugin and I would love nothing more then playing it again - on any server or with a few friends, I really do not care. This plugin brought forward the very best of minecraft and missing it is a true shame, as the continued interest in it even years after it was gone on that topic shows. I am willing to help where possible - I can code decently in Java but I've never worked with the Bukkit API so my abilities are limited (and so is my time I fear). It would be absolutely amazing if someone could pick this back up. There's many open sourced attempts out there, but none actually pulled through and finished it, released it. Ideas for commands: /regenerateSphere to regenerate a chunk using the special WGen. Ideas for permissions: sphere.breakGlass, players can break the glass protecting spheres. When I'd like it by: When possible of course.
Bit of a necrobamp, but I agree. SphereWorld was one of the best times I've ever had in Minecraft. It'd be especially fun with all the quality airship mods today. It's unfortunate that it fell out of date so quickly. Other mods just don't do the same thing: Risugami's Biospheres is too "regular"... it's one sphere per chunk in a grid, and also out of date. Planetoids doesn't provide mini biomes. Here's hoping someone can pull it off.
