Can you give perms without plugins?

Can you give permissions without plugins like essentials, permissionsex or groupmanager
or do i have to code my own type of plugins like that to give perms ?

 

Usually you need a permissions plugin to give and manage the permissions.

 

You actually can use the permissions.yml in the main directory, I believe, but I don't recommend that.

No you can't. That file is simply there to allow people to group other nodes together into a single node. It still requires a permissions addon of some sort.

It basically lets you define your own custom nodes to use with your permission plugin.

BukkitPerms is built in a way that plugins can build off of the grouping that permissions.yml does. Technically there's no hard permissions configuration in CraftBukkit without adding a plugin.
