Search for plugins by compatibility

Hey bukkit,
I have a suggestion for the search feature. I rarely make suggestions because I feel like it is harassing people to do work but I think this one be definitely be great for everyone. The ability to filter by minecraft version in the search, so if the plugin has no build for 1.6.2 and you select 1.6.2 it doesn't appear in the list. Devs should also be able to make their plugins compatible with builds they were not released for. Tell me what ya think!

A lot of plugins are compatible with later versions of CraftBukkit even if they aren't explicitly stated as such. For that reason, I would probably never use this filter option if it existed.

 

I have recently been trying to add plugins to my server and it has been a massive hassle, I was looking for a pressure plate launcher plugin and there are 3 none of them work -_- I was looking for another portal plugin and it took forever to find one that worked. But I see how if you already have most of your plugins this would not be an issue.

 

This is usually a result of it simply being a bad plugin - not that it's outdated/incompatible with the latest Bukkit versions.

 

What I do is look at the date it was last updated for an approximation of the version. If I find a plugin that was last updated in January 2012, it means 1 of 3 things:

1. Its outdated/might not work
2. The author might not be updating it anymore and/or left bukkit
3. Its so well built, it can last for almost a year and a half and still work! (Its usually not this one)

 

Well I have encountered a lot of bad plugins -_-
