    Hi CraftBukkit users!

I have an idea for a plugin that can scan minecraft.jar to detect Nodus or any other cracked clients, by the plugin knowing what a normal 1.5.2 minecraft.jar's code looks like, so it won't allow those with cracked clients onto a server. If you need any more info, just reply, but I have a very basic knowledge of plugins xD so don't expect a complicated reply!:)
Also, if you could direct me to a plugin that can allow plugin management via the minecraft client, that would be great! :D

    Cheers,

I don't know how to code but running A server I know it is not possible. The best way to detect hacks is to have a plugin like NoCheat the messages you when certain hacks are enabled.

If that was a possible solution to hacked clients, it would've been done a long time ago. It has been suggested before.

Put simply, you can't just steal files from a client end. That would be a massive security problem. The client would need to be sending this on its end, and then the modified client would also just modify this function to appear as a vanilla minecraft.jar file.

This has been discussed a million times. The answer is no. Not possible.

You can make it so to join they have to be using your specified jar file though, I saw a plugin with that awhile back..

Use spout, then they can't have a hacked client, since you know, their using the Spout client.

False. You can decompile Spout, modify it a bit, recompile it, and the server can't tell the difference.

There is theoretically no possible way to detect if their minecraft.jar was modified remotely without client-side mods.

Compare the number of people who can decompile Spout, modify it, and recompile it, to the number of people who can download a hacked client like Nodus.

Pretty much sounds like Computer hacking, invasion of privacy, and stealing.

You can get NoCheat or NoCheatPlus (NCP) and get a hook plugin to ban/kick/jail/etc. them.
Nodus isn't getting updated past 1.5.2 so you should try out other hacked clients and see how they look, then run vanilla and if you saw the same thing you did, you caught them. Thats what I do. c:

Compare the amount of people who can decompile the Minecraft.jar, modify it, and recompile it to the number of people who can download a hacked client like Nodus. If one person does it and uploads it, everybody can use it. I guarantee there's a spout hacked client up for download somewhere already.
