Lost Connection Spammed On My Server

I have a problem with my bukkit server, I keep getting spammed with messages saying

'/[IP] lost connection'

It happened last night but I don't know why, here is a Picture showing it;




This is only a part of it, This has happened every time I start the server up, any help please?

 

It looks like you might be under a DDOS attack. Call your internet service provider to change your IP address or just wait it out.

I highly doubt that it's a DDoS attack. Just looks like all the people pinging your server in their server list.

 

I see what you mean, but this is happening all the time, about 5 a second, and will not stop at all.

 

Hi, I am also having this same problem. It started happening very suddenly on the 14th and has continued at various frequencies since, from one to twenty or so lost connections every second, and traffic flow seems to fluctuate in accordance with usual peak hours. I believe this is what happens when an unauthenticated (hasn't verified user on minecraft.net) client attempts to connect. The tcpdump traffic looks similar to regular minecraft client/server connection traffic. None of the IPs are in DNSBLs, and a few of them that I have checked have even been used by legitimate players, which leads me to believe that a griefing client has some kind of proxy flooder built-in that uses the pool of active client connections.

 

Ok, so is there anyway to stop this? It started to die down a bit this morning, but when a command is entered, it speeds up again?

I also get this every so often ingame.

The server will HANG then connection lost - then regain.

Happens every so often, no scheduled time.

Yup, usually this is just people pinging the server from refreshing the server list. However I am getting serious amounts of these, so something slightly dodgy might be happening. Haven't had the time to do any analysis of these ips though.

Almost certainly a client. Trying to get a solution to at least prevent spam.

 

The problem is that the server lists that ping your server lose connection because you keep losing your internet connection for like 5 seconds at a time, and the server list is pinging your server over and over again to see if it is still up. If you do not like this, remove your server from all the server lists you put it on.

 

This isn't a server list issue; this is a server that interfaces with hacking clients to submit server IPs to attack(with a large botnet; RDNS them). I know who owns said server, but nobody has legally persued them.

Hopefully(if possible) this will be patched in CraftBukkit.

 

Does it give in-game lag? If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
