My friend got hold of loads of diamonds, and then came to me to show me that he was using a client mod that put a blue line on the compass directing you to diamonds. How can I disable mods like this? I might just disable the compass entirely. Sorry if this has been posted already.

Disabling compasses will fix your problems with this specific client mod, but it certainly won't help with the other hundreds of client mods that help you find diamonds. Orebfuscator will probably be your best solution.
Tried Orebfuscator. My friend said it didn't seem to work afterwards, but surely Orebfuscator won't affect the mod? Also noticed that there were fake ores showing up after I cut a bit of land using WorldEdit. Once you hit the ore it'd just go back to the normal mod. I also tried this plugin to disable the compass - http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/disablecraft/ - But nothing would happen, didn't make a config file or anything, I'm assuming because it's still on 1.2.5. Any plugin suggestions to suffice? I'm on 1.4.5 right now.
The way all those mods work is because the server sends data about the material of far away blocks to the client. Orebfuscator just stops that, by replacing that data with false information.
