I need server advise, OK I currently own a dedicated server that has the follow specs:

Intel Core Xeon E3-1270 (3.20 GHZ)
    16GB DDR3 RAM
2 TB Enterprise Grade SATA II in RAID 1
    1 Gbit uplink speed
    I currently pay $189.95 USD

    Other information:
Plugins: HideStream, WorldEdit, NoCheatPlus, Vote4Craft, Vault, PlotMe, PermissionsEx, Multiverse-Core, MelooonCensor, LogBlock, WorldGuard, iConomy, SurvivalGames, PEXRank, ChatLimiter, mcbans, ZavAutoMessager, ProtocolLib, SuperSpleef, Votifier, MobArena, CleanroomGenerator, Essentials, Orebfuscator, EssentialsProtect, EssentialsSpawn, Multiverse-Portals, Multiverse-Inventories, TagAPI, IslandWorld, EssentialsAntiBuild, LWC, DisguiseCraft, EssentialsChat, NameTags
    Worlds count: 17

I started to run into some problems such as the server starts to lag when it hits more than 90 users on at once.

    What should I do?

Should I get a better dedicated server?
Should split my server into 5 servers?
    Should I do both?
If you guys could give me some feed back about this matter I would be very grateful.

    Thanks for your time,

It might just be your configurations. Try using spigot perhaps?

I was looking into spigot but i hear with 1.4.6 it causes alot of lag. Not sure if its true or not.

It reduces lag... You might want to look into SSD's though.

Best way is reduce number of useless plugins, like essentials anti build. When u have world guard you don;t need essentials anti build... Also logblock drains ram as he saves data about every single block. you have server that can handle 150ppl easly.

You can try also instal something like NoLagg or Clearlag to reduce amount of entities that drains ram too.

    Ill look into SDD's

Sadly i need logblock, but it only logs one world, but ill look into NoLagg/Clearlag

    Thanks for the suggestions :)

Logblock doesn't actually impact the server as iirc runs on a different thread. Essentials AntiBuild is completely different from worldguard. and Nolagg will just lag your server even more.

    Here's my two cents.

    If possible:

Get a faster CPU shoot for 3.4-3.5Ghz
If you have multiple worlds use bungee to split each world into a separate server
    Get an SSD
    Trim plugins

    Good luck!

Orebfuscator is a beautiful piece of work but by it's very nature it is CPU-heavy. See if you can tone it down with configuration.

Also: If you don't run your worlds from a RAM Disk, look into setting it up. Best thing I ever did for server speed (even better than SSD).

iConomy is VERY outdated, I would recommend BOSEconomy.

Also instead of vote4craft, use Votifier and VotifierScripts. You can run command when users vote, like /give %target% diamond :D

Maybe too much world are loaded IF you have set the "keepspawninmemory" to "0" on the configuration file of multivers.

IF it's set to 1, the serveur will keep in memory large and useless areas, will aslo spend cpu on entitites, IA etc....
IF it's set to 0. Worlds are juste some text lines in the configuration files. Not loaded.

And try to monitor the level of entites, animals, monsters... and try to limit it.

And yes, oreobfuscator, isa HUGE cpu eater.

My suggestion is to run Vault for economy stuff. Then, it doesn't matter what you have on the backend, and most new plugins just hook into Vault anyway.

Do not use a RAMDisk. An SSD is more than adequate and does a better job.

Well yes, vault links it, but it doesn't make iconomy not outdated :p

Don't use NoCheatPlus, use AntiCheat is blocks Nodus better

I don't think so. Maybe AntiCheat blocks hacks better, but it kick you all the time when you are clearly not hacking. It destroys parkour and reports you for hacking commonly. NoCheatPlus is much more effective. I've tested both and NCP won in all situations.

Last time I used NCP, it couldn't block any Nodus hacks

Be sure you run on the latest NCP build when you do your tests:
    http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/nocheatplus/files/

Also be sure that you don't have OP or "*" permission.

NoCheat+ needs to be updated after every Minecraft update comes out so be sure you use the correct version of NC+ with the correct version of Craftbukkit. For 1.4.6 you HAVE to use one of the beta build that are made for it (build 294 should work fine for now with 1.4.6).
