Hello, I have a few questions for enjin users. I've seen so many people use enjin, and at first didn't really like it, and still don't like it now (Would go for xenforo anyday, but price = ffs)
So the reason I want to use enjin is because of intergration, I'm guessing like most people. I like the fact it gets the avatars, how much they've donated and etc. But I'm stuck
If I got enjin what plugins would I need to show how much people have donated to the server, what plugins do I need to make it fully intergrated eg if your a donor ingame your a donor on the forums.
And which plan do I choose? Advanced or ultimate to get what I mentioned? I use buycraft and pex btw, anything else you need to know please ask. Thanks

Enjin isn't involved with bukkit. Enjin just made a plugin so it can view your servers stats and players and such.
And they have 4 plugins for your server, which you can find here.

Well not directly involved, I know. I meant integrating stats and all that, thanks for the list. Do I need a certain plan for any of these?

    What enjin plan you on?

    Ultimate.
But if you are running a smaller community I would stick with a free or lower priced one.

What people don't realise is the price of several months of Enjin Ultimate is the same as a lifetime subscription to any other forum software, xenforo included.

Sure, but not everyone has the money to shell out at square 1. (Not me, I hate Enjin with a passion)
    //EDIT
Well, you could point out that you shouldn't even be running a server if you don't have the money to host it properly, unless it's just for a small group of you and your friends, which would just leave a free plan, or a free other-software host.
Yeah, I'd say wait until you have some money to actually get it started and stable.

Oh I've already got the money for the website for months, and the server.
But it's the fact handing it all over at once for it, eg I have my money saved from work for dr dre beats mixr. But handing over £220 for them headphones is a lot. Same with xenforo, I prefer it so much more then any other system but handing it over all at once for a forum system is to much for me.
I currently have simplemachines forums and it's okay, but I still don't like it so much.

If you're looking for stats, you could just use my *free* plugin ;)

Was thinking of using it ages ago, I think it's kinda cool. But I want stats in widgets all over the website. So last donators, top voters, and more that enjin has to offer. Not just stats but if there rank is Iron on the server it will be the same in the forums

Do those forum softwares link with your permissions plugins in the game?

True, but not everyone can throw $100+ on forum software right away and need to build up but would rather have a decent website with features running till then.
I personally like Enjin but its very limited and if ever were to go down I would have no way of retrieving any of it back.

Whenever my server gets to the point where donation/ranks/perks is needed for new features/hardware then I will be moving licensed software.

There are ways to do it, I have a 100 line plugin to do it for xenforo and it would only take a few minutes to do it for any other forum. Also from what I heard the enjin plugin is a server killer. (lag)

Until now, I didn't know anyone that knew that code.
And no lag for me :0

i was looking into enjin started the free version then looked at the prices and went holy shit i ended up with hostgator and bought my own domain and its a quarter of the price and use simple machines forum software..now mind you you need to learn a lil bit of coding and how to ftp and use sub domains... but in the end i think its so much nicer to make and own your own and you have more control..last thing if youve seen one enjin foum you seen them all..i just set mine up halloween

If you can code, do it yourself :)

Enjin is a horrible solution. I don't know why so many people use it — the interface looks bad, it's expensive, and all the themes look the same.

A simple install of wordpress and MyBB or phpBB3 can give you a much better experience, and has the added benefit of not costing you a penny (excepting what you'll pay for hosting).

    I wanted to
I wanted to use it as my knowledge with websites and coding is very limited, and it's an easy setup. I am using simplemachines atm but I don't like it, I only really like xenforo but that's a bit to much for my community

Every time I see a Minecraft Server using Enjin, my faith in humanity diminishes a little more.

    My opinion:
Don't even start a public server if you can't afford the costs around it. Don't complain about that xenforo or vbulletin or any other software out there is to expensive.

If you don't want to put money on the software, then go and code your own or use whats available for free. But the worst thing about most minecraft servers out there is that they only last for a very limited amount of time. The biggest reason is i guess the following:

They ran out of money cause not alot of donations
The owner lost his will to run it
The owner did suspect a much bigger crowd but failed to deliver

I just have one thing to say, NEVER GIVE UP AND FIGHT FOR IT. Its not going to be easy, there is to much noob servers out there and if you decide to spend your time and effort into it. Then damn make it amazing and not just another crappy server.

Its not that hard to get known, you just need to spend a lot of time and don't open the server after 2 weeks of development, make everything finished and setup as you have intended. Then open the server up for the public so they can enjoy what ever you made that is so special and awesome.

Small things matter, the spawn matters, the world matters how you take care of the members matters. The setup matters, etc etc.

Some people just think that money will fall down in their lap if they start a minecraft server. I can tell you thats not the case. If you want to make money in this world you have to get to the top.

    How to get there?
Well, you either already need to be established or create something new and epic that has not been seen before. Be first with something that brings players to the server and then keep them there as long as you can.

Contacts will help you, if you know any famous utuber you can easy get some flow onto the server. If you do advertising you may also get a load of people. But in the end, its only what you can offer what matters. If you want people to stay and donate you need to offer them something that they like. You need to run it proffesionally.

Of course, you may trick people with temporary servers that lasts for a month and you sell stuff like OP to anyone.
But in my eyes thats just wrong...

If you want to run a public server and want to take money for your services, then you should be able to pay the monthly fees without donations. Running a minecraft server and a site takes a lot of spare time and that is also something you will have to put into it.

Running a minecraft server is like a part time job, if you fail at it then it will all sudden be a full time job.

The worst thing for us serious people is that all thoose unserious servers makes people not find us as easy as if there where only a few good servers than thousands bad servers.

Thanks for reading my wall of text in "Engrish" I'm from Sweden so sorry for my bad grammar.

Over and out and i hope that you find the software you are looking for!

    Well said.

I stray away from Enjin. It's so... disgusting. Even when the subdomain for Enjin isn't there, I know it's an Enjin site. That should never be the case. Your website should be original just like your server.

You mean lose the job? I'm sure if your not a good worker then you will get that job taken away from you, instead of more hours given :D I duno where you've been working.

I'd agree with everything you've had to say tbh, but it sounds like you think I haven't opened my server. I started building the server on my own at the end of May/start of June and opened it 2 months later. I then started taking donations at the end of the holidays, as from my previous experience with CS/CS:S/TF2 and more servers. If you start taking donations instantly you could already have ruined the server before it began.

But what I am saying is, I can afford xenforo, I can probably afford vBullitin. But the difference between enjin, xenforo and vBullitin is time scaled prices. You cannot pay for the licensed service over time, you have to pay in one big lump which to me is a lot and I don't think I could do that. With enjin it's monthly, and I thought that enjin was shit from the begginging. Everyone had it, that's why I kind of wanted it, and it was really intergrated with bukkit.
