/mute Not working!

I hope this is the right section to post this but, /mute isn't working! People can still talk. like it'll say "this person tried to talk but is muted" but we can still see his words! Please post why this is happening FAST because people join my server and are really annoying and /mute not working.

Plugin using /mute: Essentials

 

Are you using essentials chat?

 

Yes.

 

Then the only thing i can think of is your setting a low time.
If you just do /mute player it mutes them until you undo it.
I would make a ticket for essentials.

il need your startup log to see if theres any error with chat event.

errors may not pop up, but that doesnt mean they dont exist.
