With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

If your server is having problems, the first thing to do is remove all plugins and see if it works. If so, start adding them back one at a time until it breaks...remove that one and continue adding them back one at a time. When you are done you will have all of the problem plugins removed.

Speaking of problems...Dynmap's author says this problem is with Bukkit and not his plugin:

    Code:

I'm guessing the problem could be on either side so I want to make sure the CB dev's are aware as well. Worst case scenario we can put them both in Thunderdome :)

No problem. For future reference, though...the jar file *is* the plugin. everything else in there are just support/config files for the jar.

So far so good regarding their current progress on 1.3.1. It shouldn't take too long now, just some more hours left. It'll be a matter of time before we can all play. Also, thanks once again Craftbukkit crew on doing this for all of us.

Remove all of the plugins and reload the server like normal. Then you will add a plugin one at a time until you find one that makes the server mess up. You will then get rid of the plugin until RB 1.3.1 is released. If it works like I said, fantastic. If you continue to have errors, then downgrade your 1.3.1 server to RB 1.2.5 and keep all of your plugins until RB 1.3.1. is released.

There are many plugins that do not function with DB 1.3.1 yet. I say just temporarily remove them until RB 1.3.1 is out. The plugin creators are still working on making everything work.

The last thing I remember the Craftbukkit crew was working on was the piston/piston extension bug. They may or may not have fixed it yet. But if they haven't, I have strong beliefs in them.

Can't wait for Bukkit and the tons of plugins we run on Actium's MC servers to update... Oh, the anticipation! Oh, the Minecraft withdrawals! Oh crap, I gotta do a TON of updating when the first stable Bukkit build drops for 1.3.1... :D

BTW, it can't be said enough that I for one appreciate the work the Bukkit team puts into the project. There's a lot of "labor of love" in Bukkit and it shows. Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also offer a shout-out to the plugin devs, since it's the synergy of server and API and plugins using that API that make the back end work. Everyone involved should be shown maximum love.
