Computer for best server?

  1. hello guys, what do you think would be the best computer set-up for a minecraft server with no lag and be able to hold 50 to 100 people or would you have to buy one at that point.

    For 50 to a 100 people, a high-end VPS will handle up to around 50 or so... However, if you want to go much higher, you're going to need a dedicated server (not a budget server) that's running SSDs with plenty of RAM and a decent processor. Minimum of 3.0ghz a core or so. (Depends on the type of plugins you run)

    You can aslo put your worlds into a ramdrive.

    Minecraft servers are not very much optimised for multithreads, so it's better to have a hight frequency by core.
    To handle around 50 players : Intel core i7 2600k, witch auto-overclock his frequency to 3.8 ghz. Or you can manual overclock it to reach higher frequencies.
