Moved houses, new modem, old router, and in deep trouble.

Okay, as the thread title suggests, I recently moved houses, and the people who used to live here left their modem behind. This modem is better than the one we had at our old house, so we got rid of the other one. Alright, so... I have internet and everything, but I can't port-forward anything.

When it comes to port forwarding, I usually know what I'm doing, but I believe the problem is something about the modem, which I have no knowledge of. The modem is an xfinity Arris TG862. I honestly don't know what else I could provide to help, but I guess I could post more pics if needed. I've tried a ton of crap, including Hamachi, but it would get stuck on "resolving" and I tried No-IP which didn't work either. www.canyouseeme.org tells me that it can't connect to port 80, and my brothers computer is having the same problem. If anyone can help me get this fixed, it would be extremely appreciated, I've been trying to fix this for a month.

    Edit:
Forgot to say my router is a Linksys e2000

I got a huge list of things, do you think you could tell me what should be checked as Enabled, Disabled, and set as Yes and No? Or a specific section I should look at?

I know for a fact that if you do not have a business account with Comcast. Consider all of your ports. CLOSED. They do not allow you to host anything from my experience.

Firewall on the modem should actually be doing nothing. It should be passing it onto the linksys router if configured correctly. If you select that tab make sure the firewall is completely off.

The firewall had nothing to do with it.. I turned it off entirely, nothing.

use this website to check if your ports accualy working
use this site made to test out ports like minecraft http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php
paste your exturnal ip into the slot n put the ports as 25565
CLICK ON ADVANCE AND TURN PING TYPE TO "DONT PING"if it works it should say
    Host is up.
    PORT STATE SERVICE

    25565/tcp open minecraft
    or the STATE will say
    Host is up.
    PORT STATE SERVICE

    25565/tcp filtered minecraft

the service is what your named your ports to b

or you could do this @ImminentFate

I shouldn't of gotten too excited. I turn on my computer this morning, and it's not working again. I really think it has something to do with my modem...

Maybe there is a reason they left it? Its probably bad.

Likely because your IP changed. You need to re-portfoward so it uses your new IP and give out your new one.

Cervine get static ip then ur ip wont change when you restart it

Changing IP's does not break port forwarding.

-Please read up on how that works.

The modem/router/firewall handles all port forwarding and does not reset its upon and ip change when its DHCP lease is up. It sounds like the modem is failing or something is blocking it. Try a different modem and see if the issue gets resolved. If you can, put the ip of the server into the DMZ. That allows unfiltered access to the internet.

but if he put his ip in his (server-ip=) he would have to change that. Time to time your external ip changes too

Why would he put his external IP in the config file? If you do that it wont even get to the internet. If you are behind a router you have to put your internal IP in that file. It will cause a socket bind error with the external.
