    i plan to buy
    Crucial 256 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT256M4SSD2

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

i dont know much about SSDs. i mainly want to buy the SSD so my laptop will run minecraft without getting too hot. i run minecraft on my macbook pro 2010 8gb ram. and mac book pros get extremely hot like its going to explode, if you have one u know what im talking about xD. im also buying a cooling pad as well. my server runs very well without lag already, its just the heat that is the problem. i play and host on the same laptop for the past 2 years.

the other reason i want the SSD is so my computer will be a little faster. even though i dont have much speed problems..i do occasionally want to multitask and thats when it starts to lag

    ----
i just host a small minecraft server for mainly friends. normally everyday will have around 5 players on at a time and at peak hours there are around 8 players on at a time which last for like 4 hours each day. the world is growing pretty big. its 3 months old and i have it bordered at 10k blocks. its almost 1gb big.

the server is pretty lightweight, not many plugins. i use bperms, consolescheduler, creeperheal, deathcontrol, death notify, ichat, logblock with local mysql database, lwc, mcdocs, mobdisguise, stargate, worldborder. i dont plan to add anymore.

i host the server 24/7 and i want to know how long or an estimate of how long my SSD will last while hosting my server 24/7 because i heard it has limited writes/saves and minecraft executes this alot. or something like that. i would want it to last at least a 2 years. because i will probably get a new laptop by then.

please help asap ! cuz id love to buy an SSD. and if theres anything else i should know, please tell =D

That depends what you mean by "lasting", if you mean lagging, probs about a couple of days, but lets be sensible here and just restart daily. If you mean lagging out, then that is variable to more than just your drive honey, same with stopping but more so with lagging out. Best to just restart daily.

first of all a SSD isnt going to help your temps worth the cost of the drive
90% of the heat is generated by the chipset
as in the CPU and GPU
a SSD could reduce lag by increasing the read speeds
the life span is the main question, and the only consern
you could set up a different server and have the backups be stored on a traditional platter style hard drive
    (anything but solid state)
that way if your drive fails on you you can restore it
and save all of your hard work

btw your sever is very small my server is up to 12 GB

Nah, you'll be fine. The people claiming consumer SSDs will fail need to do some research first.
