No one can connect to my server but me, I was told to put my local IP in my server.properties then connect to it by using the IP given to me at http://www.whatismyip.com/ but when I entered my local IP then try the IP given to me it doesn't connect, but it DOES connect if I enter my local IP. I'm just so confused, any ideas? :(

Also, I haven't port forwarded because all the tutorials are so hard to understand, if you could tell me that too it would be great (I have a mac)

I assume you have a router?
Do you know how to enter it's control panel?

It'll be the little box with the flashing lights.

Ok now how do I enter the control panel?

  6. One who does not know how to port-forward, should not own a server.
Or if it is for friends, you can just use Hamachi

Quite frankly, you should not be running a Minecraft server, clearly you have no knowledge on how to port forward or even know what a router is. If I was on your server, I'd probably would leave the server since the server admin needs to know that information.

You rent a server? I find that professional hosting is probably better than, doing it yourself.

Lets be realistic, it is NOT cheap to rent a server, even with the donations I receive I can only pay off what I've paid on the Minecraft-Server-List. Plus I CAN manage a server, but the only problem I've run into is no one can connect, and I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how instead of telling me I can't do it :(

The problem is that port forwarding is basic proper server admin knowledge and not to mention that normal computers aren't built to be left on permanently like servers.
Anyways, to connect to the router, you'd need the router IP and connect to that in your browser.

your players will lag, the server will lag, the game will lag. just rent a server.

Ok im going to cut the guy some slack (even though server hosting is probably a better choice for you). I know this is a bit old but if you still want Ill help. I have an airport extreme as well so I can tell you how to port forward it because that is absolutely necessary.

I am having the opposite problem. I cannot join my server but everyone else can. I just get timed out of my server within 30 seconds of joining...
