I dont know if this already exist. If it does sorry but i didnt really find what i was looking for. Features: 1. Link multiple servers toghether with somekind of portals. 2. Share inventories over all servers if defined in both servers config. ( update with inventory from servers where you started at and if you disconnect from 1 server update it with all others in the network) 3. See members on other servers. 4. Whisper to players on another server without defining on which he is. 5. Display online status of servers on signs. 6. Display members / available spots on signs. 7. Check if players dont login on 2 servers at once 8. Ban players over all the servers. (ip and player name) 9. Share player data of other plugins if defined. (if plugin isnt installed on other server dont copy them) 10. Deny connection if not connected trough a specific server. Servers can only connect with servers where the plugin is active/running and where both server ip's and port are defined in config.
Can't you use worlds? I don't think think your traffic is so terrific that you need mor than one server.
Its not about the fact to split traffic. Its about the fact to split cpu and ram over multiple servers with other maps. And that can be hosted by anyone who wants to group up with us. Just one big network of worlds. Where you can travel trough space and time to another world
Cloud based minecraft would also make it possible to have multiple servers act like different parts of a universe where you can trade inbetween servers and so on. It would give lots of new possibility's. Both for server owners that cant afford a better machine as for server owners that want to create a unique enviroment for their players. People can explore fresh worlds time after time. Raid multiple servers and protect their own stuff from being raided. Warzones, ore rich worlds, submerged worlds , flying worlds all running smooth without any worries about running out of serverresources. Different plugins on 2 servers. Dont want ores to respawn on one but with large amounts on another one? Just put the plugin in one and not in the other. Places where people can hunt for mobs or cut trees without the need of walking miles to find a tree. Multiple worlds with different plugins and still large maps.
Yeah, I need something simular. My friend has a server and I has a server and we want to link them somehow.
There is a plugin called Bukkit Link 1. Is not possible at all! 2. Not possible, if possible then lag is a problem... 3. Through a command: yes In the player list[tab]: no 4. Possible! 5. Possible! 6. Possible! 7. Possible! 8. There is already plugins for this! 9. Not possible EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
Try looking at this: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/transporter/pages/server-to-server/ I've never tried it myself tho.
All thinks could be possible, if the server would save this things somewhere, and all servers could load/save at this place. The idea is cool: You can play on different worlds with different plugins and different admins, but its like on server. this is very cool
yeah but i'm pretty sure you need a client side mod for it to work since there is no minecraft/bukkit api for this
no, it just takes extensive server modding. I was able to switch between servers on there server and i didn't have a custom client
1. Possible, but I'm pretty sure it requires a client mod. (Spout?) 2. Possible 3. Possible, if you mean in the playerlist 4. Possible 5. Possible 6. Possible 7. Possible 8. Possible 9. Possible, if the plugin allows you to copy the data (text file or accessible database) 10. Possible Congratulations.
Some points, I think it indeed needs a client mod, like spout, not sure, but spout does enables this? Second, if you want a huge network, with shared inventory, stats and maybe things like factions, i think there has to be some bridge-plugins, stored at a main point, like a MySQL database?? So when traveling, a players information like inventory and things, gets "bridged" and put in another server, and when logging off, and you reconnect to the previous Ip, you need to get send trough to the server you last logged off I think? Anyways, I think it requires lots of thinking and suggestions and a realy good dev team.. Good Luck!!
This sounds feasible, but would almost definitely require some central server to handle inventories and stuff - even if it just runs MySQL.
