A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build 1.2.4-R1.0 (#2126) that provides Minecraft 1.2.4 compatibility, many bug fixes and critical (crash) exploit fixes is now available. As always, please remember to backup your servers before updating, just in case. As this is our first 1.2 Recommended Build, updating is highly recommended.

Will plugins break with this build?
Unless the plugin developers of your plugins have been keeping up with Bukkit development, plugins will most likely be broken due to the recent optimisation and cleaning of our code. However, if the plugins you use have already been updated to work with at least 1.1-R7 or 1.2.3-R0.1, then you should be fine.

    What is a Recommended Build?
A Recommended Build has gone through extensive testing and should not have any known issues. These builds are for Server Admins who want peace of mind when updating their server to the latest Minecraft update. We'll do our best to ensure that Recommended Builds only have completed features and completed API before being promoted, though we cannot ensure that a Recommended Build will have all the API needed to fully utilise newly added features in a Minecraft update. Although we go through great pains to ensure that these builds will not cause any issues, we highly advise you test them on a test server before deploying to production. Recommended Builds are naturally promoted after several Beta Builds have been promoted, and thus are promoted less frequently than Beta Builds.

    To summarise, a Recommended Build:
    • Has been extensively and thoroughly tested, so should not contain any major or minor bugs. However, we can't provide any guarantees as there is no possible way for us to be aware of all issues before they are discovered.
    • Has complete features.
    • Has complete API.
    • However, may not have all the API or features to cover what is added by a Minecraft update.
    • Is naturally promoted after several Beta Builds have been promoted.
    • Will be promoted if we find issues in a previous Recommended Build.
    Known Issues:
    • None
For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here

I found a bug!!! If the darkest wood is placed and then you break it, it turns to the original wood! It also turns the block you are holding into the original!

Make that all... If you are holding the same kind of wood that you are breaking it turns to the original wood! ANY kind of wood!
EDIT: If you break ANY block while holding ANY kind of wood it changes!
    P.S. I am in creative...

Run a command in Terminal [assuming OS X/Linux]: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui

...alternatively, ask a less vague question.

    Sorry I have a Windows

I double click craftbukkit.jar (Because nothing else runs it) and it runs the server but doesn't show the Log and Chat,
I remember you use to have to write the code for that but I can't find that code anymore ):

I cannot reproduce this bug. Can you try to reproduce it without any of your plugins installed - you may find one of them to be the culprit.

I tested it in survival and it didn't reproduce, in creative it kept changing if you are holding the wood block, this also happens with the new sandstone blocks. So hold the block that is supposed to change break a block and it should change.

But you guys do have someone that goes through all the new features on the feature lists for a version and creates issues for them, or implements them rather than waiting for someone to report it? Or do you guys just wait for someone in the community to speak up about things that are on the Vanilla feature lists for patches?

Some things get missed, as was said. That's where the community is supposed to come in by making issues known.

One question: When will the mob wall glitch be fixed? This occured first in MC 1.8 or so (don't remember correctly) and it is still not fixed. It's really annoying to hear bone breaking sounds all the time when some sheeps are in my cage glitching on the walls or when I'm digging through the underground. Also mobs seem to be able to escape from an area surrounded by fences. I guess it's the same bug as they sometimes glitch and suddenly stand on top of the fence from where they can escape. Please fix this annoying bug.

Are you using WorldEdit and/or WorldGuard? If so, you should update. I'm running a dev build and it works.

OMG. It was an adventure to convert the map data (6GB and now there are 11GB). My server was not able to convert it all (not enough RAM). I had to download the data und convert it local. My computer is uploading everything and it will take up tonight.

But it´s nice! Thanks for your work.

the RB wooks like a charm. had no trouble update my server. ('cept for dynmap, but thats not Bukkit's fault, probably mine)

I hope that the pre-release version of 1.2.5 will help Bukkit get ready for the next patch. I have confidence.

    Don Redhorse

IMHO a confirmed bug.. https://bukkit.atlassian.net/browse/BUKKIT-784 posted 21st Feb, tagged with EXPLOIT (well nothing to bring down a server but still).

    NO response yet.

Concerning verified bugs: The state of the documentation isn't that good to be 100% sure that something you did was done wrong, so you verify it based on the knowledge you have. So a bug can be verified in the opinion of the reporter but is still not a bug but working as designed or just a mistake of the person filing a bug.

So if you find a bug you post an issue, which is being looked at and either acknowledged or not.. doesn't matter which option you choose an explanation should always be given. At least that it how industry standard bug reporting and management works.

Posting remarks that it does work doesn't help, if you don't explain why it works. Or reading an issue but not replying doesn't help either.

And always going to irc or the forums first isn't an option either, that's what the issue tracker is for.
