This is ready for testing. It's part of the GriefPrevention plugin.

This plugin is an entirely new idea for PvP in Minecraft, a potential alternative to factions. It's less about social engineering and heavily design focused, meaning that smart building is an integral part of the experience.

I'm providing only the basics here to capture your interest. I really, really need folks to try this out and help me iron out any bugs. You can read all the details on my project page.

Wide open PvP results in unlimited grief, where players tear apart others' builds while they're offline. That's why most PvP servers either explicitly allow grief because they can't keep it under control through enforcement, OR use some kind of protection plugin like Factions or Precious Stones. The trouble with those protection plugins is that players very often have the option to just sit in their base until the bad guys give up, building something cool or farming or whatever while they wait. Yes, I know factions has the TNT cannon, but there are also water-covered walls.

In GriefPrevention's siege mode, players who hide in a protected area can be /Sieged. This prevents them from hiding their valuables, building themselves into a safe room, or logging out. So their remaining options are escape, combat, or a battle of the wills (waiting, while unable to do anything constructive). Further, the design of their build is absolutely paramount to their safety - many block types (configurable) are breakable by other players while the defending player is under siege, so building a base which is safe, functional, and impressive to look at is very challenging. To add more fun, defenders can build traps, secret escape routes, and other clever devices into their builds ahead of time to thwart or defeat attackers. Attackers can try to penetrate defenses by building nearby, digging under walls, and crashing through windows. Creativity and careful planning become very rewarding, integral elements to PvP.

Please try this out with your friends and tell me what you think! You can comment here or in my project comments, it doesn't matter to me.

Use factions, in the factions config change the tag towards the bottem that edits whether or not enemies can build in eachothers claimed land when both factions have players online
