Observer - Know what's going on!
    Version: v1.1.1

Are you fed up with people building inappropriate stuff on your server? Do you wish there was a way to find out who built or destroyed stuff? Do you wish other developers would keep their plugins updated? If you could answer one or all of these questions with 'yes', Observer is the plugin for YOU!

<font color="#ff0000">Note: This plugin will receive no more feature-updates! We will keep this plugin updated until 'Guardian' is released!</font>

    What is Observer?
Observer is a security tool, like BigBrother, that lets you know what players placed what sort of blocks. Unlike BigBrother though, we (The Code Boat) promise to keep this plugin always up to date with the latest Bukkit version. We will keep this plugin updated until 'Guardian' is released.

    Awesome! How does it work?
To see who built or removed blocks in the area you are standing in, type:
    /observe area

To see who placed a particular block, type in:
    /observe block
...then choose a stick and right-click the block you want to investigate!

To observe a custom area, type:
    /observe stickarea
...then choose a stick and left-click the first coordinate, then right-click your second coordinate

    To get help, type in:
    /observe ?

    Alright! But is it reliable?
One of The Code Boat's priorities is to fully satisfy our users (You). We guarantee to keep all of our plugins up to date at all times. And we also promise to listen to the needs and necessities of our users to keep everybody as happy as possible and to give you guys a great experience with The Code Boat and Bukkit/Minecraft!

Okay, I found out who the bad guy is. What do I do now?
Well, this really is up to you. But we highly recommend to take a look at Curse (our punishment plugin). This might be your choice of action!

    Going to try this...

sounds very nice, But is there any chance to still keep this plugin very basic but also add in that admins can rollback the blocks people destroyed/placed.

    e.g
    /observe rollback {Name} {Time}

And possibly add in the time they did it, So you can use the command above to rollback the time they did it from,

    But it sounds great.

One of my favorite features about BigBrother was how you could single out 1 block with the log they had, not just a big area. Would it be possible to add that in?

Added all the suggestions to the Todo list! Thanks to ToddusMC, FreeZoneCraft and Theslayer95.

Also, here is a community question: Please suggest a tool for us to use as the selection tool.

Thanks for your support and help! :)

Aybody knows if runs correctly for 1.2.3 R-O-2?

EDIT: Yup, runs ok at 1.2.3 R-0.2 but... Can you make multiple log files for any online user? The server crash when the plugin is running a lot of time and searching for concrete griefed blocks... Anyway congrats for the good woork and keep it up! :)

Where Swatchdog failed you must succeed! Please add SQL database support for large servers! Otherwise the amount of IO on the text file/yml file will eventually kill the plugin.

    TheCodeBoat likes this.

SQL Database support added to the todo list :)

Dumb question: Could you downgrade it to R4 ?

If the plugin doesn't work with R4 (which it should) we will not downgrade. Maybe you should update to the latest RB.

As of now it does not need mysql. This could change though.

Not yet. We will first implement permissions to Curse before this plugin will get it.

I'll download and use this plugin as soon as it has a rollback command and permissions nodes ;)

Edit: Do I have to use MySQL DB or can I use the plugin with out it?

  28. Offline

    TheCodeBoat

No mysql needed as of now. Rollback and permission will come in April :)

  29. Do you know that there are multiple logging plugins (HawkEye, LogBlock, BigBrother) like this? And that those authors wanted to fuse them all in one plugin called Guardian?
The idea is (or was?), that Guardian will be the final replacement of all those SQL logging plugins.

Anyway, I'm just saying that you might want to contact the devs of Guardian. Maybe you can join them? :)
Less = More. I don't like to have 20 plugins which do the same, but that's just me. :)

Edit: Also, what makes this plugin different compared to all those other logging plugins? Promising that you will keep it updating is not a good reason. It's a nice intention but it's also a promise you can't keep.

Can you maybe update it so that you can watch what someone else is going? Like watch a suspect's HUD?
