Backwards Compatibility for Older plugins

Hello everyone!

I have a question about a rather severe issue regarding the latest builds of bukkit. Will there be backwards compatibility support for older plugins that have stopped being updated? If not, is this something that can be added to the next build of the server? I noticed some plugins that have not received updates for quite a while now that are very useful are now broken due to the latest builds of bucket.

I once again thank the devs involved with both the plugins and bukkit for their continued support for this project!

In my experience, the large majority of plugins that haven't been updated to at least 1.1 R5 will have compatibility issues. But typically things remain decently compatible for months, there's just a lot of shakeup going on right now. There are some unofficial updates to many old plugins.
