    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:

    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.

Hi, I'm posting my question here out of mere desperation.

We are trying to set up and configure Residence on our server for some time.

Here is what we're trying to accomplish:

We have a large city that we wish to create as one giant Residence. We want to define player plots inside this city as subzones.

In the city, default users should not be able to build, destroy, or place any blocks.

If they purchase one of the defined plots (subzones), they would then be Owner of that plot and be able to build, destroy etc. inside.

I have installed and configured Residence, with the following config:

    Code:
#These are Global Settings for Residence.
    Global:
        # This loads the <language>.yml file in the Residence Language folder
        # All Residence text comes from this file. (NOT DONE YET)
        Language: English
        # Wooden Axe is the default selection tool for Residence.
        # You can change it to another item ID listed here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values
        SelectionToolId: 268
        # This determins which tool you can use to see info on residences, default is String.

        # The interval, in milliseconds, between movement checks.
        # Reducing this will increase the load on the server.

The problem here, is that at the moment, anyone can build within the city. No matter what I change in the flags they can still build.

Also, the only people who should be allowed to create residences and sub-zones are moderators and higher, but anyone should be able to purchase these zones.

If there is ANYONE out there that can pleaseeeee assist me in getting this set up the way I envision I would greatly appreciate it!

We're at the end of our ropes and have been looking everywhere for someone who has experience with Residence.

    @PhunkeyMonkeh Got the same here!

Updated Residence to newest (for R3) and people if create residence or relay on created before - others can place and destroy blocks, even if flags are like "/res pset build PLAYER false" - PLAYER STILL can destroy and build on that residence. BEFORE upgrading it was ok.

Console says its OK, Vault, PermissionsEx, iConomy worked before, now dont. All of them are newest.

The problem seems to be related to PermissionsEX v18 because I rolled back to v17 and now I don't have the issue anymore.

You can use PermissionEX 1.18 just add "- -residence.admin" to the groups you don't want to have residence.admin access.
For some reason PermissionEX 1.18 detects every one to have access to residence.* and there for grant them admin access.

  11. Greetings all I would like to ask for you assistance in solving the issue at hand I have created a Bukkit server(craftbukkit-1.1-R3) and installed iConomy (6) and Residence(2.4.2) plugins (besides other plugins that do not conflict with residence in any way they are: AuthMe, ChestShop, CreeperHeal, Essentials, Factions, EnderSMP, iConomy, Jobs, Lockette and Residence (all other plugins were deleted 1 by one to see if Residence is conflicting with anyone and the results came negative) so here is the first screenshot showing us that the plugin is loaded, then an internal error attempting to create a residence then the error in the console. I will be very grateful if someone can help me with this problem.

There is a typo in the code, at one point it looks for GroupAssignments and at another point it looks for GroupAssigments. Until this is fixed in the code you can make it work by copy/pasting your GroupAssignments section and renaming it to GroupAssigments, so it should look something like this.
    Code:
    GroupAssignments:
        bekvon: default
        player: default

    GroupAssigments:
        bekvon: default
        player: default
You must have everyone listed under both GroupAssignments and GroupAssigments or it will not work.

In an older version of residences, all the residences were in res.yml (and res.bak) ; now I updated and each world has is folder for the residences. How can I convert the old save to the new residences format? When I copy to res_world.yml, nothing happens.
I have like 500 res in differents worlds and all is mixed, it will take me ages to separate each res for each world, and I have no guarantee that it will work.
Thanks for the help and sorry if the question was already posted

The save files converted themselves when we updated the plugin.

One question can you make it to where people can only build in the place that they bought. I've been trying this but it's either they can't build or can build everywhere (using permissions). I'm just using them as default. Even in their own home that they bought. Please help!

I tried replacing your list and it didn't work but I looked into it more and figured it out. I still want to thank you because without your reply I wouldn't of wanted to go through with this plugin so thank you! I do have one problem though... I have everything set but it isn't letting me place a bukkit down even if i'm an admin i don't have to have to buy a place everytime i wanna put a bukkit down...

Tmallen01 what whas the problem than?
water and lava from bukkit: send your Permission nodes applied and confiugration file, I can look on it.

I would be happy to see the raw .yml file to download it and look for bad characters as well (we talking about YAML parsing)

Just updated the Residence and PEX - no one on the server can access doors or chests in their residences! It says "you can open only your stuff" - something like that. When I enabled debug mode in PEX i saw that Residence is accessing residence.admin for every single operation I do, even if I am not an admin. Is it normal?
What is this - Residence error or PermissionEX'es? What fix should I be waiting for?:)
And in the PEX config there are some values unknown for me that can possibly affect this problem(s):
    Code:
    matched-permissions: true
    raw-permissions: true
    strict-mode: false
    parent-nodes: true
Is it possible that all compatibility problems between Residence and new PEX are because of misconfiguration of these parameters?..

Using residence 2.5 on cbukkit R3 with bPermissions and after dropping the jar, config is normally created but in-game commands do nothing, and there is not any error message in the tchat or in the console.
    What's wrong ?

Hi there. I'm new to the forums and I have registered to place a question about this plugin.

My CraftBukkit server version is 1.1
My Residence Version is 2.5 hooked with PermissionsEX

Now, on to the problem I'm having. To clarify things a bit, I don't have any errors on the console nor using any commands, my problem is that I'm able to use this plugin to protect certain areas against creep explosions, fire spreading and so on... BUT I can't for the life of me stop other players from destroying protected blocks...

I've browsed for 2 whole days: forums, youtube (searching for anyone else with problem and if they had a tutorial) and google for answers, I even joined a few public Mine Craft servers to place, to the admins who knew how to use this plugin, the problem I'm having.

My procedure: I use the Wooden Axe to specify the starting and ending points of the area I want to select, then I use the "vert" command to expand the selected area vertically and then I create the residence area (protected area, to my logic)
After this, to reinforce the "key" of protection, I use flags like this:

/res set <name of the residence> destroy false
    /res pset <name of a certain player> <name of the residence> destroy false

Note: The destroy flag is only an example of what I've used to stop the block destruction, I also used the damage flag and another flag close to my objective (I can't remember the name of it now, sorry...)

By no means I haven't used the BUILD flag, cause I found on a few documents that changing setting of this flag causes problems (so this is out the question already).

Well... this is my problem and an annoying one... I have been tinkering with my mind, thinking if it's the permissions file that is interfering with the plugin, but as I've read about it, what you set on the residence protection overrides the permissions of the players (but I trully don't know anymore...)

Awaiting for some help. Thank you.

P.S. I forgot to mention, my server isn't premium and uses hamachi, so if you want to take a more closer look of what my problem is, you can pm me for the server ip and hamachi info.

Try adding "- -residence.admin" as permission for the users you don't want to be able to destroy other blocks.

How do you use the wooden tool tgo select a residence??

  30. Take the tool and left click on the lowest left corner of your protection, then right click on the highest right corner of your protection. Then "/res create (plotname)"

    -------------------
Having a slight issue with residence not protecting blocks. If a user creates a protection and sets all the flags and everything up correctly, a non-staff, non-op user can still walk up to the house and destroy it. There are no error logs and everything seems to work perfectly fine when the residence is created and (other than the fact that this shouldn't be happening) when the residence is destroyed by a random player.

does anybody know of a resolution to this issue? (I would post this on BukkitDev but I can't access it; apparently my password is wrong and registration is disabled..
