Can someone please make me a plugin that alows me to change the color of ceratin name plates depending on what permissions group they are in. A server that has something like this is mcctf.com that is the IP. I would like for there to be a permissions setup. So like lets say plate.b is a node, if I put that in the permission group Moderator, anyone in that group will have a blue colored name plate. There are color codes so the permission nodes can be maybe like so: plate.1 plate.2 plate.3 plate.4 plate.5 plate.6 plate.7 plate.8 plate.9 plate.a plate.b plate.c plate.d plate.e plate.f plate.k Here is a link to all the color codes just in case you don't understand the nodes. If someone can plesae make this for me it will be MUCH appreciated!
Double post: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/player-name-plate-colors.54125/ Also this will change the players skin, so they will rage. The only thing to prevent this is using spout, but then only players using spoutcraft will see the colored names.
Actually there are some servers that have colored names but i think they edited the server source, I'm not sure if you can do this in bukkit without modifying the server source :/
I'm not sure if you read the previous comments. Anyways, to sum it up, and other similar plugin requests, you can't change a player's nameplate unless you want to not show their skin. For example, winter4w would have your skin, but &awinter4w would have the default Steve skin.
You would be checking for &ewinter4w's skin every 5 seconds. That is useless. You can get a nameplate a different color, but it's not going to be in a plugin. You would have to modify your server files.
This DOES NOT break player skins what it does affect is any thing that night use there name like /tp /nick ect
I will stand up and not make this... For spout! - Anyway, I recently tried to do this and found you can change their tab list color, but that breaks the tab auto complete functionality the MC client provides (as izak mentioned). You can also change name plates via plugins, but the solution is very kludgey and not really worth the effort and plugin conflicts it creates (my opinion).
I totally agree making this will conflict with a lot of plugins and errors as it changes anything to do with players name like permissions and such making life a lot harder
Some one did create a code with this http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/changing-names.65443/page-3#post-1153383
While more efficient than the "every x seconds" method, I still think you'll find the same conflicts and tab functionality breaking if you use that code. Still, I might play around with it tonight to see for myself.
http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/how-to-change-color-player-tab.78263/#post-1144387 I won't repeat me once again, so that's all I have to say.
Then why aren't reading the thread? I need to find a way to configure this in the Bukkit source, compile it and run it with colored nametags.
just get spout.... editing the bukkit source is crazy, especially just for colored nametags. (maybe pm one of the bukkit team?)
1. My reply was directed at winter4w... You are writing here for the first time so who isn't reading? 2. If you had a look at what I linked you would have seen that it overwrites notch code. It does that at runtime and not at compile time, but you could integrate it directly into bukkit simply by copy&pasting a few lines of code from the plugins source directly into CraftBukkits source. But why should you do that if the plugin proves that it's possible at runtime?
Sorry, I had 2 topics open in my browser. Both of them about colored nametags, I was talking about mine.
