Unless your server's a pentium 3 with 10 megabytes of ram I doubt it's this plugin.

    Version 1.8.1 released.
Fixes a bug in the spoutcraft status bar.

I have Spout, and the newest version of Vanish but everytime I try to toggle ANYTHING besides /vanish it says "You can't toggle that!"

I'm the Owner/OP on my own server! How can I not toggle that! ;(

Because you didn't give yourself permission to do so?

    ops have vanish.see vanish.vanish vanish.adminalerts vanish.statusupdates and permtest access.

I may consider setting up a "customize VanishNoPacket" feature in the future.

Soooo you're telling me I still have to add the permission for me to toggle stuff? And thanks for the quick reply

Yes, you need to give yourself the permissions. The reason I do this is because a lot of people actually don't want all the added stuff that would come with getting every last permission as op. :)

One last thing. Is it hard to make plugins? Or is it easy? I'm thinking it has to be easy considering the thousands of plugins on this website!

For some people (but not all! Don't be ashamed if you fit this category) Java programming is easy. Certain plugins are easier than others. I recommend you start with something simple that's been done before, and write it and compare code with existing plugins. Don't share that one with other people. Build a few more plugins that do simple things like change a block or display things in chat, until you get the hang of it. Then, pick out a project you want to do that nobody's done before (or not done the way you'd do it) and write it and publish it! :)

Lol I haven't tried writing a plugin before... but writing scripts and stuff is really hard for me. Idk if it's because I've had no one ever teach me how to write scripts, etc. But yeah! Thanks for the tip!

P.S. I like this vanish plugin the most. The only other vanish plugin I saw only allowed you to vanish! Nothing else!

How do i do that? i have the - '*' permissions can i do - -vanish.silentjoin will that work?

Depends on your permission plugin. Read its documentation to find out how to do that. I never advise using "*"

    CraftBukkit version: 1337 (Minecraft 1.8.1)
    VanishNoPacket version: 1.8.1
    Spout version: 510
    Permission Manager: PEX 1.16

Problem: If I give myself the * permission, everything works fine (Except that I login invis by default, but I know why that is)... But if I remove *, and give myself (Or my group) vanish.standard, I can still use /vanish, and I get the text "You have vanished. Poof.", but other players and mobs can still see me, and I can still pick up items. If I type /vanish check, it says "You are invisible."... It almost seems like the * is giving me something that vanish.standard isn't giving me, that lets it actually truly go to invisible, and not just use the commands...

    Any ideas?

Sounds more like an issue with what permissions you're giving out.

So, after doing some more investigation, I tried this:

I used two separate accounts, on two computers, side by side. I made sure they both had the exact same .jar file installed, which has Rei's minimap, modloader, optifine, and improved chat installed. I made sure that all the optifine settings were identical on both computers, same thing with all the minimap settings.

In game, I moved both players to a new "Test" group with only one permission (vanish.standard), and no inheritance... I deopped both players just to make sure we weren't set as OP. Only difference being that I have "permissions.*" assigned to MY account, so I can switch my own group for testing. (Also tried it without that applied). Both players in survival (not creative) mode.

I moved both players so they were standing there, looking at each other. On my account, I type /vanish... I get "You have vanished. Poof." and I actually have! The other character can't see my character anymore, I disappeared. So I do /vanish to reappear. THEN, I try the same thing on the other character... /vanish... I get "You have vanished. Poof." ... but, it hasn't... I can still see the other character from my account. The only thing I DO see is the character seems to "twitch" a bit every time I type it. But no disappearing. I test moving, to see if it disappears after moving, but no good, I can see every movement from the second monitor.

Only differences between them now, are mine is running on a Mac, the other is on a PC. The funny thing is, when I posted my previous post, It was MY character that the OTHER character could see, running from another PC upstairs. So I have been both successful and unsuccessful with the exact same thing from the same computer (Mac).

I don't know where to go from here... I'm pretty sure I've eliminated the permissions as a cause for this...

For the sake of being thorough, I switched the scenario, logged in as mine from the PC, and the other account from the Mac... same issue... I can disappear, and can't see the character from the Mac now, but the reverse doesn't work... second account says it disappears, but I can still see it from the PC...

So now the only difference that I can see is the skin we are using is different... we both have custom skins, both are different...

I've tracked this down to what I think is a bug in VanishNoPacket... Here's the deal:

If I give someone vanish permissions, and they set the "see" toggle with "/vanish toggle see", so that they can see invisible people (Or if they get it automatically with vanish.standard? Not sure?) and then demote that person so that they don't have ANY vanish permissions, they can still see vanished people... The plugin must be checking to see if that user has that toggle enabled, and lets them see a vanished person, even if they don't have any permissions to use vanish, have vanish.see, or anything. I found this because I was demoting another "Owner" account down to Member to test the vanish plugin...

Currently, permissions are determined at signin and not adjusted beyond that point. I will be adding permission checks (probably once a minute or something). It's just not fun to do, because seeing invisible players and the like isn't something that's toggled with a single command.

Also yes vanish.standard has vanish.see as part of it.

So what you are saying, is if I demoted the user, then logged that account out and back in again, the ability to see vanished players would have gone away?

I can live with that... Just glad I'm not crazy! And honestly, the need to check for it frequently isn't really needed. Would it work to just specifically remove vanish.see from all lower ranks with "- -vanish.see", or would it still require the relog?

It's not often in a real situation that a user that has vanish would get demoted anyways.

    Thanks for a great plugin!

You would still need to force a relog for any permission change, currently, if it involves vanishnopacket stuff.

I've got another question... is it possible to suppress hidden players from the Tab player list? (Or somehow just disable the tab player list completely?)
