With bukkit updating all the time I as a server owner find it annoying to have to go through all the plugin pages to check if they are up to date. I feel that this would help to make the bukkit experience just that bit better, so here goes. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/update-message/ On the right hand site of this page you can see a vote system where users can vote for if the plugin is compatible with the latest build of wordpress, I think this would massively improve the bukkit experience. But I have a way to take it to the next level, in the profile add a feature (My Server) to let users add plugins so as they add a plugin to their server they can also add it to the bukkit forums as well, they would then be able to check back and see what plugins are up to date via the vote system I mentioned previously; this would allow users of bukkit to quickly check for potential problems when they update bukkit.
Thanks for reading, any suggestions welcome,

I feel users who are less skilled in setting up a plugin may downvote because they cannot set it up, rather than if it works or not.

Other than that, I like the idea

I actually think a system like the WordPress plugins repo would be good - it would save people from ignoring a plugin completely just because it's build number was a few RBs back. On the other hand, it might encourage people to use plugins that were on the verge of becoming abandoned - so when the plugin does break, they will be worse off than if they'd have just avoided it at the time.

The other problem is people just voting without actually testing everything. A plugin might start and run fine for you, but what if there's a small set of features that are outdated, that now cause errors? A "working" plugin should be one where all the implemented features actually work, not where only the things you use work.

We could make some sort of system where only curtain people can vote

It could have some sort of middle ground like a "partly working" option

Hmm... maybe... I guess the next thing is people then need a way of specifying what's not working, before someone else tries it.

Also, the point about inactive plugins still stands :p

Yes ture, but a good plugin dev would make it well publicized that they were quiting so this wouldn't be a problem it could have a option the plugin dev or admins could set "inactive"

that's what bug reports are for, which can be managed with bukkitdev.
