I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)

Quick question, is this dependant on Spout? As I loaded my server with this plugin installed I noticed this line:

    [Server] INFO Downloading Spout.jar (975kb) ...

I don't really want Spout on my server because I would not like to fragment my user base based on those who installed spout and those who didn't want to. However for this mod since I'll be the only one using it, it really shouldn't matter. Just curious as to why it was being downloaded as I see no mention of this on your main post.

Do i really need spout for this to work?

Just tired of working with spout, when they update server's crash
when you try to download a build ive spent hours waiting on their host to display the website :(

extremely unsatisfied with spout, or do you have a spout free version?

    @jalle1997
Make sure your server even runs.
    https://github.com/DiddiZ/LogBlock/wiki/MySQL-Connection-Problems

It's mention in the op, and it's only required when you enable chest logging. No need for the cliend mod, just the server plugin

M'kay. I've been having issues for a while and I'm not sure when they started. I can tell you this is more related to the MySQL aspect but I'm not sure where else would be a better place to ask. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with sudo access only via PuTTY.

First off, my bukkit server log is as follows:

After a bit of research, I determined the issue was related directly the the MySQL database due to LogBlock's inability to reach the database at all.

Via command line, I entered the command "mysql -u root -p" and entered my password. I was met with the following error:

    Code:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111)
Afterwhich, I performed "pgrep mysql" and received no results.

When I attempt to perform "service mysql restart" I get the following error:

    Code:
    user@ubuntu:~$ service mysql restart
    restart: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.12125" (uid=1001 pid=14965 comm="restart) interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Restart" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init"))

I successfully uninstalled and reinstalled MySQL, however the same errors occur. What could I be doing incorrectly?

Either insufficient consumer settings, or your mysql server just went down
Das ist als LB plugin (oder besser später für Guardian) problemlos möglich, log ist ja da. Zusammen mit der rollback preview funktion von HawkEye könnte das sogar ziemlich einfach sein.

I don't know much about ubuntu (used to work with debian). What about "/etc/init.d/mysql start", or is that a debian specific thing?

But won't that lag my server if i make it request more data per second or whatever?

My guess is that's a debian thing. When I use the command you posted, I get the following error:

    Code:
    user@ubuntu:~$ /etc/init.d/mysql start
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
    utility, e.g. service mysql start

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the start(8) utility, e.g. start mysql
    start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.12138" (uid=1001 pid=9664 comm="start) interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Start" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init"))

    :Edit:
Also, as I stated, I have sudo access. So, I attempted to run "sudo service mysql start" and it just hangs.

    :Edit Edit:
I feel silly. I managed to locate the "my.cnf" file and the Bind-Address is a different IP. Something tells me that's the issue. I hate not having root access on this server. So, I gotta try to find a way to edit it.

    :Edit Edit Edit:
Figured out how to use "vi" then changed the Bind-Address to localhost. This change successfully resolved my issue. I hope this information will serve useful to others, in the future!

It's the dot. Change the table name in world config.
Not that much. And even better than having thousands of blocks in queue.

    @DiddiZ

Been running fine on my creative server, however "/lb tool off" doesn't actually turn it off. LB recognizes my command but doesn't turn it off.

    RB1185 and 1.8.1

    Well, for some ...
Tested and can't confim. Any special circumstances, like creative?

Hmm, apparently it's also doing the same in our survival server. Can't place a log without it disappearing back into my inventory and getting a LB output. /lb tool off is not turning off the Log tool lol
