Thanks for this information. Hawkeye was exactly what I was looking for.
I am using this to do a daily backup I can restore for emergencies, and Hawkeye for block and player specific rollbacks, which was what I wanted to use /restore for.

i had to disable your plugin
    something isnt working right
it keeps kickin everyone when it starts
and the delay feature wasnt working either

  6. I guess there is something wrong with how threads are handled. Every time a backup starts my servers CPU and mem usage is switched from Bukkit to the backup functions here. So players connected get a read timeout because the server doesn't have enough computing power at his hands to handle things..
But honestly that is just my guess what happens, i'm no expert in this field. Maybe this helps someone to fix the issue.

Wow. Seems like people dont read through threads before they post a problem.

I had the date problem, and decided to look through if anyone had the same problem. Ended up spending about an hour reading through every single post on all 9 pages.
    So many different problems.

My only problem seems to be the date issue, where in september it shows august on the backups.

Hopefully he will come around to fixing it.

But most of the other problems people are asking about, are already answered before.
And with some basic understanding of the config, it is something you can figure out by yourself.

Now. People are having problems with backups being generated right after people log in.
This is a problem you can work around, not by changing the delay, since this is a delay from server start/reload.

But if you look under options, there is an option for pausing backup when no players.
This is set to true. That means that, as long as there is noone on the server, backup will be postponed.
If you look in the server console, you will see that it tries to back up at the given time, but it sees noone is on, so it postpones.
As soon as there is someone on, it backs up.
To stop this from happening, simply have it back up wether there are people on, or not.

    time:
    interval: 43200
    days-to-keep: 2
delay: 600 (Set this higher to delay backup after server reload/start)

    options:
    backup-plugins: true
pause-when-no-players: true (set to false, to disable backup right after login, when no user has been online for the last specified interval)
    debug: false

Now. To the problem of backing up, at every reload of the server.
    Here are 2 fixes.
1, change the delay to something more than 5-10 seconds, so that it doesnt do it right away.
2, dont use /reload all, but the reload command for the specific plugin. For permissions this is /permissions reload. For essentials this is /essentials, and so on.
That does not generate a server wide reload, and the backup plugin doesnt take any notice of it.

Hope this helps. And you may qote this, if more people ask without reading.

I have tested this many times it dosent matter how i change the delay or anything i have tested everything people get kicked

    have you read first post?

    He dont maintain the plugin

    The first post says
(edit: okay, not "stopped", but "rarely updated")
and I didnt say anything about the being kicked part.

  10. If he has very little time for updating this plugin, than he most certainly does not have any time for helping people who are having issues.. Just me thinking logically.

If he updates at all. What would he do, if not fix problems? He wants to keep it simple. so I dont expect many new features.

  12. Yeah, I guess he would just recompile for the latest CB and test if it works.

Did this used to just be named 'Backup'? I just updated from the 1.6 era, and the logs/configs look very similar.

I get similar log issues to you, @ltguide . Seems like the amount of "backing up" and "disabling level saving" etc will change on each attempt. Just got 2-3-3-1(compressing)4-4, and this was the problem that my old 'Backup' plugin had too. I'm using @TfT_02 's linked version on 1185, alone for debugging, so its not any other plugin interference...

Maybe something has changed fundamentally with 1.8 and the way it handles the backup commands? This really needs an active developer, as i can't find any other backup solutions for 1185 that support the plugin directory. I wish i knew java!

After a little more testing, this has the following problems:
    • Multiple backup messages in console
    • Does not backup /plugins/ directory when
      Code:
      options:
          backup-plugins: true
          pause-when-no-players: false
          debug: true

    • Causes lag spike during backup -- my maps are small but i can see this booting players if the map is large enough.
I tried telling it "- plugins" was a world, but it didn't believe me. So much for a quick workaround :p

  16. If you would have read the OP you'd know that CURRENTLY backing up plugins is not implemented. Only the option already exits.

@Lathanael Referring to this, in the config section?
    "backup-plugins: true #unused until version 0.6"

Guess i missed it. Seeing as we're at 0.4.8.1 with an AFK dev, does it really matter if this is planned for the future? I guess i disagree with including config options for nonexistent features, but it ain't my plugin, is it. My list was more intended for a new dev to pick the project up.

I just started getting this error ever since bukkit 1190:
12:50:06 [WARNING] Task of 'MineBackup' generated an exception
java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method org.bukkit.command.ConsoleC
    ommandSender.<init>(Lorg/bukkit/Server;)V from class alexoft.Minebackup.Backups

    at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:374)
    at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:417)

Mind you, this is not the only plugin that failed. iChat did as well. Have the hooks changed in bukkit since 1190 (I don't know java programming so excuse any wrong expressions) as I cannot find other backup utilities for a live world that work as easily as this one. BTW I have been using in 1.8.1 and NO KICKS to players during backup. I don't know if that's because I'm running a fast enough PC for the job.

  19. Caught this off of the bukkit twitter feed earlier. I don't know which build this went in for, but I'm going to assume 1190. And I'm going to assume a goodly number of plugins are going to break:

FYI, I checked and 1190 is the last bukkit version that worked, not the first to break. That being said I went back to 1190 due to lag issues. Seems more code or something has upped the anti on server upload usage!

Loaded your updated plugin. Thanks, workd a treat!

Is anyone using this on a server running 1185? I'm actually in search of a reliable backup plugin to backup my worlds.

the 0.4.8.1 works great on all builds up to 1190. After that you will need to download the 0.4.8.2 version posted above. I have used since 1.7.3 (and all 1.8 bukkit builds) and had no problems with it at all, except the 1190 thing. Tested restores etc, no problems at all. It is recommended to use Autosave with this.

BTW... 1185 has a food bug where all food replenishes hunger too much (even melon slices) so I recommend 1188 or above which fixes this.

  25. That is because in 1190 introduced a new method for the ColouredConsoleSender and all plugins using it have to update.. -.-

Could you also fix the month in the filename ?

    For example : 2011-08-25_23-01-43.zip

We're in september, not in august... =/

    It should be 2011-09-25_23-01-43.zip

should be fixed :) (for whatever reason, in Java's Calendar the Month is 0-based)
also the CONSOLE: saving etc messages should disappear

    github download

Yes, I was aware that there were changes like this, even if I don't really know the code details... I was simply letting this person know so they chose the right version of this plugin that would work for their server.
