    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

If I correctly understood your question, you want to deny building in the whole world except some defined areas.
    If so.
    Change:
    Code:
        Flags:
            Global:
                build: true
    to:
    Code:
        Flags:
            Global:
                build: false
    in the config.yml of Residence
set build to true in Worldguard.
Create Residences with the build flag.

    Hello,

thx for the great plugin ! How can I enlarge an existing residence? (Without creating a new area?)
Can I simply select a new residence, and if the residence is larger than the old, then only the new blocks will be calculated? Or how do I enlarge a residence of the easiest?

Can I set the plugin, that if I delete the residence, I get my money back?

    /res kick [residence/all] [player/all]

to kick people out of your residence(s)

looks like this is not going to be 1.8.1 compatible. At least not completely. Looks like fire spead still works =/

found them on the set up on wiki :D

but why dosent it make a folder with the Configuration: and the rest

What do you mean with "firespread" still works ? For me it works like it should. If you set firespread to true the fire spreads to nearby blocks, if set to false, it doesn't spread.

hmmm. It is still spreading on my server. I will try remaking the configuration.

    Hello,

Since some of you reported success in running Residence with 1.8, I am posting my problem. I know Residence does not officially support 1.8.

    The following is tested against:

    Code:
18:47:09 [INFO] This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-1017-ge1af446-b1120jnks (MC: 1.8.1)
18:47:09 [INFO] This server is also sporting some funky dev build of Bukkit!

    Plugin seems to load fine:

    Code:
2011-09-20 18:46:28 [INFO] [Residence] Found Permissions Plugin!
2011-09-20 18:46:28 [INFO] [Residence] Successfully linked with iConomy!

2011-09-20 18:46:28 [INFO] [Residence] Enabled! Version 2.4.0 by bekvon

But when I type /res (I have the * permission), I get an internal error in-game, and server logs report:
    Code:

Any help from those running Residence within 1.8 is appreciated. Otherwise, I hope these logs will help the plugin developer :)

Greetings all, just wanted to say that this is a great plugin.

Just had an idea, could we have a flag for a area and would turn off fall damage in the residence? Been trying to find a good way to turn it off cause we are making a roller coaster and... ppl keep dieing from the jumps.

Any thought or ideas if it cant be implemented would be great.

Hiyas, love this plugin! Is there a way to make creepers explode and do no environment damage but still damage players? If not, could it be implemented perhaps with flags to separate the two? i.e creeper-block-damage: T\F and creeper-player-damage:T\F

thanks for a a great plugin!

    bevkon:

We are using Residence 2.4.0. Residence goes into a tizzy when it parses res.yml files with residence definitions in non-existing worlds. Not trying to be nasty; just direct. Throwing an exception if a world cannot be found
    Code:
    com.bekvon.bukkit.residence.protection.ClaimedResidence.load(ClaimedResidence.java:805)

isn't a very graceful way of handle a missing world. Granted, this wouldn't be a problem IF the exception was trapped properly. Unfortunately, it causes res to become non-functional and chews up a whopping 140 MB of server RAM that is never released. Only after going through res.yml and manually deleting older residence entries, does it begin to function normal.

I'd suggest to either exit more elegantly on such conditions or change the configuration structure. A simpler approach, at least from a server administrator's perspective, may be to keep residence definitions in separate configuration files (e.g. res_world.yml, res_world_nether.yml, res_myworld.yml). This allows your configuration loading process to simply get a list of existing worlds and load their corresponding configurations.

If you want any help, please don't hesitate to PM me. You have a great plugin and I only want to see it get better.

    Best regards,

    Frelling

Can you think of any reason that fire could still spread if the global is turned off, it is not allowed to be changed by owners and the default for a residence is false for fire spead? I have the latest version of this installed and i recreated the config file for this from the default to make sure it was up to date. I also have the latest non-rb installed. Any help would be appreciated!

  19. @bekvon , thanks for the update but Im a bit sad that you didnt adress the lease/rent cycle bug that Ive reported to you a while ago! =/

So I post the bug again this time with more intel:

The lease/rent cycles have a bug! They dont deduct money for rent/lease every lease lenght (in my case 5days "Days: 5") but every RentCheckInterval: 30 (30 in my settings too).
The debug problem is that it does not start to charge every plot from the beginning but starts later and not every plot! (reason unknow/couldnt debug)
But once it started to charge a plot it charges them every "RentCheckInterval: 30":

As you see all our "plots" are set up as subzones. Everytime they show up in the logs the players accounts get charged (iconomy5).

I pastebin the config.yml and res.yml so you can review the setting
    config.yml: http://pastebin.com/wtk4xLCF
    res.yml: http://pastebin.com/XQatDzAA
Setups tested with CB1060/ Residence 2.3.9 and CB 1135-1168/ Residence 2.3.9 and 2.4 - no differences noticed!

When need more info or when I can do something else to debug this plz get in contact with me!

Sorry, I had actually found the issue a while back and forgot to push the fix to the development version. Try the new dev release i just pushed and see if its fixed :) The bug was in the auto-renew part of the Rent system, and only happened to residences that had auto-renew enabled. This will be officially fixed in the v2.4.1 release, which should happen after the bukkit MC v1.8.1 compatible release.

I'll try to clean up the world catching issue, it has been there a while and I've been struggling to figure out exactly how to handle it. That's a really good idea actually to put each res in different yml files based on the world. That's probably what I will do, and I will just have to figure out how to migrate the old res.yml to the new system.

Its probably because your not using a RB, I think there are still issues with 1.8.1 due to all the new stuff that was added. If its still a issue after the official RB release il look into fixing it.

Not yet, but should be soon...

Many thanks for all your help :) Its been very much appreciated as I don't have much free time to work on this anymore.

is there any way to select the residence or area your in or list? i ask because it would allow for a much easier way of expanding area you own. or at lest find the XYZ coords of the area you need so you can reselect it that way.

A fence :) Or a subzone with move flag set to false

What you were doing when the error occurred: Using any command

I am playing on my own server, I have all permissions, I am an op, but when I do any non-help command, it says "That command is for admins only" (or something like that).

Does this plugin work with the 1.8.1 bukkit update? If not when will it be updated?

It seems that it is working in RB 1185! ;)

  28. @bekvon

Could you add a flag like "radiation" or "damage" which is the opposite of "healing", means a player inside the residence will become damage instead of being healed?
It will be perfect if we can set the dmg amount, but something like 1/2 heart per second or 1/4 heart would be good.

    Clucky

whenever you update, don't forget enderman protection =P

same thing happened to me, however it was because my hard drive got full (too many backups of backups per hour) and somehow residence restarted, don't quite know how... its all fixed now though, I restored it back from one of my 100 backups.

i plan to make protections being made only accessible by a certain class (Constructors) on my server so right now max protection is 16 x 16 i believe, is there a way i can give a constructor rank 2 ability to make a 32x32 ? And so on and so forth, Rank 3 would do 64x64 ect. via permissions
