I would turn off your world map, looks like you have some sort of google map. But your right 3 things The map Towny and Spout. I dont think craftbukkit itself is something to wory about till your done trubleshooting the plugins.

We have no map turned on, dynmap is disabled.

Post your stackdump so we can start working together as admins.

Doing some pretty hefty java monitoring and stack analysis, I will try to nail down what it was and report my findings.

Hey guys, I'm joining you in this fight against that "Read Timed out"
I don't have any clue to give other than what was already said before:
    -Console freezing (I can't do anything like "save-all" )
    -everyone disconnect and can't reconnect
-Only a reboot of the server is possible

I can give the list of my plugins by the way :)
I have the latest recommended build of craftbukkit, Same for Spout and spoutcraft

Nothing conclusive atm. Spout is the key suspect. If its not Spout its craftbukkit itself. Im using visualvm, jconsole, jstack, and nearly every diagnostic tool at my disposal to try to find something conclusive.

I think it's Spout then, 'cause I had my server with craftbukkit for one week or two and I didn't had any problem. I got Spout and only then it started a few days later

The sad part is I can't dump it. I need it for ore obfuscation, heroes, backpacks, all our custom guis, and so much more...

I can't get rid of Spout either.
I don't care, I prefer having this error one or two times per day that not having Spout :)

Ok so Now, I get this error plenty of times, but it does not stop my server, only me ><

PS: When playing on my MAC, I don't get it anymore ><

Care to elaborate on your plugins, provide a stack trace or anything?

    It's CraftBukkit.

I have this error popping up even with NO people on and NO plugins running and even a new world. It happens after a day.. or 10 seconds after starting the server.

Just for those who say it's plugins causing it. All i'm hoping for is the remote toolkit updating soon so it includes a auto force restart when several "Read timed out" scroll across the console.

I'm getting tired of this f*cking bug who appears out of nowhere, popping up every 10 minutes or sometimes not popping up for one week before popping up every 5 seconds...
NOTHING IN THIS BUG MAKES SENSE

I've had this bug on a vanilla 1.8 server as well, so I don't think it's all craftbukkit. Although it's feasible it changes something that causes it to crop up more frequently.

I found out that completely rebooting the server at least once a day kept the RTO away.

Well that even rhymed. Had the error shortly after starting 1.8 and then doing regular reboots and never had it again so far. Might wanna give that a try.

I don't have spout and happens to me too. But happens once in a loooong while, like 1 time every 2 weeks. It could be cause i turn off the server at night when im going bed, and turn it on in the morning when a wake up.

For me the cause of problem was Permissions 3.1.6 plugin.
I found 3.2 custom version and it fixed read timeout problem.
Unfortunately 3.2 has broken promote/demote functionality so I eventually moved to bPermissions.
Both Permissions 3.2 and bPermissions gave me no more read timeouts

I have the same problem on #1337...Sometimes it'll go for a couple days with no issue, and sometimes it'll pop the Read Timed Out errors more than once a day. It's very odd... My server specs: Xeon 6-core cpu, 2 Gigs DDR3 ram, SSD, 1,000 Mb/s uplink. I've ruled out any hardware issues, so it's gotta be a plugin or bukkit. Also, my SQL database is on the same server, so performance is great. I was looking at LogBlock as the main reason, because the queue was getting clogged up. I disabled the bukkitscheduler and the queue's fine, now. I've noticed that it sometimes happens after some heavy WorldEdit usage. I'm just throwing this info out there, in the hopes that it can help someone.

    Plugins:

    AutoMessage
    ChestShop
    DynMap
    EasyBan

Another bump of this post. So lemme get this straight.

Since the middle of last may, when Cb was in the 700s, some people, but not many, will have critical and fatal server errors every once and a while. 7 pages of posts and over 1000 builds later, people (including me), are still having this issue, and nobody knows what in hell is causing it? (It is probably a multitude of triggers for the same errors, but I've yet to find a fix for any of them)

Shame. It's happening to me and I've had to bring my public server down for days now while trying to figure this out.

I got the same thing. I thought I had just put too many plugins into my server and was overclocking the cpu (i don't completely understand what that is, but I think that is the correct term, or maybe just overloading.) If anyone does solve this, I hope you will post to help out all us poor souls.

Its caused by all protection programs. Not just BB, core protect, own blocks. Log Block is better about it but still.
