    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

I know chat plugins by their very nature break each other. However one plugin I require is BableCraft. I am not a linguist and I like being able to communicate with other people who don't speak english. I was wondering if HeroChat and BableCraft could "work together" or if you could add google translate into HeroChat? That and the lack of PermissionsBukkit is the only thing holding me back from this great plugin.

    Hello,

I'm on my buddies server and we're trying to get herochat up and running with our configuration however it seems that it's overwritten the /help command so that /help does what /ch does (Not /ch help, just /ch) which means anyone trying to access the normal /help command to see what commands they can use can't use it.

Mods to note are Permissions and bukkitcompat, if there's no known issues with those, and of course I don't update this and say we have a solution, and finally you guys can't figure out what we're doing wrong, I'll post more information, however right now I'm tired and I'm not the admin of the server, I'm just doing him a favor.

    Thanks for any response.

Could you please possibly divide up the permissions so that the mute permission is separate? I'd like to be able to give all twenty of my moderators the ability to mute without having to either give them channel moderator access individually or give them the herochat.admin permission. Thank you.

Hey I try to make it so herochat says which world people are in and this is how I have it set up:

    globals:
    separate-chat-log: false
    incoming-tell-format: '&8From {player}: &d'
    censors:
    - \bu+\W*m+a+d+(\W*br(a|o)+)?
    - some_other_word;replacement
    plugin-tag: '§e[HeroChat] '
    craftIRC-prefix: '#'
    outgoing-tell-format: '&8To {receiver}: &d'
    default-channel: Global
    default-message-format: '{color}[{nick}] &f{world}{prefix}{player}{suffix}{color}: '
    craftIRC-message-format: '[{nick}] {player}: '
And in default message format I have it say world but everytime I save the config file and reload the plugin it deletes the change and it doesnt say what world :(. Help please.

    hmm,
/ch list and /ch CHANNELNAME doesn't work if you're running herochat on a windows bukkit server. Everything works fine on a linux bukkit machine.
when i do /ch list all i get is:
    Code:
    List of Channels:

no channel listing at all. Everything fine on a linux Machine.

Yeah, just set the group prefix for owner or admin to &c or whatever color code you want. Then your default formatting should look like

    {prefix}{nick}&f

Which will set the final text to white.

    Use PEX.

ok i am having issues getting into the staff channel i am the OP on the server and it still wont let me in. The config file is set up like this:
    Staff:
    color: LIGHT_GREEN
    nickname: staff
    permissions:
    speak: []
    join:
    - admins
    - mods
    message-format: '{default}'
    craftIRC:
    game-to-IRC: []
    IRC-to-game: []
    worlds: []
    password: ''
    lists:
    bans: []
    moderators:
    - Zelow79
    options:
    hidden: true
    shortcut-allowed: true
    auto-join: true
    local: false
    cross-world-chat: true
    join-messages: true
    forced: false

I am assuming this is the default option. Now i have tried adding Op, op, Operator, and operator and that does not seem to let the plugin load correctly so what i am wondering is how do i make myself the admin/mod so i can use the channel? also i noticed when i did /ch mod staff it added my name to the moderator list. but i still cannot join. This is driving me insane lol.

Edit: Ok I solved my issue i guess you cannot add a new line you can only replace a line and i just replaced admins with Operator and now it work perfect. So i am just assuming this is just based on you permissions groups.

Sorry to post a feature request here, the redmine site wont let me register for some reason, keep getting a mysql database -5 error, have no clue. Anyways my request is a multiworld setup function. Like when users teleport to other worlds they are defaulted to another channel automatically, say you have channel "freebuild", when the user enters freebuild world they will auto switch to the freebuild channel :p Not sure if you can do this but hey! its an idea right ?

    Hey @DTheilke
I've got a question. I've tried SOOOO many chat plugins and so far, i've had problems with all of them. iChat isn't compatible with bPermissions, jChat isn't compatible with Essentials, and mChat is not what i really want. This seems to be the only other worthwhile chat plugin out there that i've heard of, but i've got a few questions
    1. Will this plugin be something that you will stop supporting EVER?
    2. What is a simple summary of how the channels work?
    3. How easy is the installation? (is this something that is simple enough for someone running a server with Essentials, bPermissions, WorldEdit, Citizens, Showcase, FakeMessage, and Spout to use?)
    4. Whether the installation is easy or hard, how long does it take to format/setup channels and censoring?

Oh and is there a way i can "hide" what channel a person is in? Because i don't want

    Hey SPAMCraft1,

I know you are probably expecting a reply fast and DTheilke doesn't seem to be responding much anymore.

    So to answer you questions...

    1. With this plugins success and current state I wouldn't believe him to stop supporting it, but I'm sure if he ever did there would be other plugins out by then.
    2. A simple summary of how the channels work... There is a config file that has this setup
So that should pretty much explain it, to add channels you just follow that same setup and add what you like :3

    3. The installation is VERY simple, you just drop the jar in your plugins folder and start the server, then you will be presented with the usual folder with the config files. Then you just set it up like i showed above. Now with essential you will have to remove "EssentialsChat.jar" in or to get rid of conflicts betweet the two because herochat has to be allowed full control of your chat, but no worries this doesn't hurt Essentials in anyway.

As for the censoring, in the same config file you will see the censor option and it will have an example listed, just follow its format and your good to go :3

Anyways I hope I helped answer your questions. Anymore just message me back :)

I need a way to add group prefixes that is compatible with PermissionsBukkit and HeroChat. I looked through all the chat plugins, especially ones that let you set a prefix, and I really want to stick with this one because the channels are awesome XP so is there a plugin out there that I could add in without messing up HeroChat? =o I tried Prefixer, SimplePrefix, binfo, and NameChanger. Some of them had prefixes per user, not per group, and some of them simply did not do anything, probably because HeroChat took priority as the chat plugin for the server and shut down the competition. Any advice would be great! ^-^ P.S. This isn't even upgraded for 1.8, which I am running  it works though :3 so I don't think it will be a problem. At any rate I can always go back to 1060 to see if the craftbukkit build is indeed messing something up. I am working this all out on my laptop's local server instead of on the dedicated one I own so my players won't have to watch things breaking.

Apologies if that feature was already requested, but I not searching 76 pages DX

Sounds good, thank you :) I'll be spamming refresh if you need me o.o

Question number 2: How exactly should I format the password for my staff channel in the config.yml? I have it as this:
    password: '99'
Did I do it correctly? It is not asking for a password to join.

You need to customize message-format for that channel. Something like this
    Code:
    message-format: '{suffix}{prefix}{player}&f: &7'
