    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.
    • Shop plugin support. (Optional)
      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.
      • Enable/disable Towny in as many worlds as you like.

    REQUIRES
    • No other plugins, but is best with Questioner, so that invitations are given by Towns and Nations to residents and towns.
    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.
(We no longer recommend using PEX at all. It breaks TownyPerms due to the reflection PEX performs.)
    Supported Economy Plugins
    • iConomy 5.01
    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *
    • BOSEconomy *
    • Craftconomy *
    • * Requires Register.jar 1.8+ (or Vault) in your plugins folder.
    • Any Vault-capable economy plugin that supports false-player accounts. (Do not use register if your economy plugin is supported by vault.)

Elgar, is the new /t spawn delay similar to the essentials delay? (You can't move while the command warms up, or it's cancelled) If it's not, I highly recommend you make it like that, it's perfect for PvP.

(nooby question - to update for the new version I can just replace the jar and that's it? Rather than rename oldconfig and redo all the info?)

Also, as a later feature, I recommend you add an option in the config to disable certain commands inside towns to outsiders. Useful for PvP servers that use some kind of warp system, so that players can't enter enemy towns and then warp there later (by blocking the command that creates the warp).

Each town has a permission for doing this. So each town can disable/enable outsiders from using the /town spawn <bleh> command.

  6. Post your version. It is prevented in mine. The sticky piston will fail to pull if it's across a boundary.

I have just thought of a possible bug where you could pull one block inside a boundary to the edge, but not over.

Live chat is linked in the main post top right (IRC chat).

No, I mean disable specific commands like "/cast mark" etc (part of MagicSpells) which saves the player's location. Or being able to disable "/warp create ___" if you aren't part of the town. Maybe WorldGuard's code for disabling commands in regions would help? Idk because I'm not a dev.

    "(Admin)[Town]Mayor DXWarlock:"

to work fine, just the prefix and postfix refuses to show...here is my config if anyone can see something Im missing.
(right now the prefix is blank in here, trying to get postfix working first.)

Try that, your town levels' namepostfixes were missing their ''s and the modifychat.format had a bad order to it.

can the order not be changed? we wanted Town/prefix/suffix in all town info in a row, then the name.
adding the ' (whatever)' to all the postfix didnt help :\

Hi! I had recently removed towny from my server due to some changes but now I have decided to install it again. I followed the same procedure (given more bonus blocks to my town and deposited enough money) however when I am in an unclaimed area and I type /town claim 10, with 10 being the radius I get an error saying : This area has already been claimed. Can anyone please help me with this?
    Thanks

  19. 10 is a rather large area. Are you absolutely certain it's unclaimed? Type '/towny map'

I tried going a little bit farther away to be sure and set radius to 1 and still got the same error..

  25. If you have the permission node 'towny.town.claim' and it still doesn't work join irc (link in first post) so we can live chat.

Error says: "Loading Error: Exception while reading nation file Vlaretopia"

    Go to plugins/towny/data/nations/Vlaretopia.txt
and remove PvP_Land from it. Do another startup.

It's at the bottom in the Chat section, this is what the line looks like by default:
    format: '{nation}{town}{permprefix}{townynameprefix}{playername}{townynamepostfix}{permsuffix}'

Thanks for the support I managed to fix by deleting the old config and pasting the more up to date version of the config, thank you for keeping the best plugin in the world updated!

So far the only added plot type is the shop plot.
More plot types are coming, so far proposed plots include:

    • Embassies - Friendly towns can claim a townblock, still controlled by the town it is in.
    • Mine Plots - Townblocks which can be mined below a height set by the mayor. Keep your public roads pristene, while underneath they can be mined by residents.
    • Woods Plots - Plots which can be mined for ore/trees (the wildignorelist.) Meant to be used as a buffer zone around a town, where residents can mine basic resources without ruining the terrain.

Is that coming up in the next release version or is it in just the planning stages?

Also after updating to 0.76.0 We are unable to see plot owners when zoning between plots.

Sounds like your notifications:false in the config.

Right now the focus for releases are bugfixes and the plot-overhaul. The framework for new plots types is in, the next few releases will see more added, fire and explosion protections extended to the resident level. Then its onto the war updates.
