    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

    @DThielke
/ch reload gave me an Internal Server Error, my client crashed and messages came in two until I restarted. I'll update to 3.01 now.

It's still erroring on 3.01. I also noticed updating from 2.xx caused the settings to mess up, for example, local chat had a setting local: false.

I'm getting the same issue as these guys, and there are no errors whatsoever in the server log. More interesting to me is that I got their error at first. After a /reloadall, however, it stopped prepending the [channel] notation and stopped coloring channel broadcasts. The chat worked according to Towny notation/coloration rules. As far as I can tell, even local chat broadcasts serverwide. It's as though the plugin runs, but then doesn't actually control anything chat-wise.

Hmm I get no errors at all it's just that I can't talk in anything except global, trade and help. Alert and local show nothing in-game when I try to speak and the console show's me as still in global.

Hmm, very strange - we didn't have any transition issues on HeroCraft.

Could you guys upload both your config.yml AND your users.yml for me to look at?

On further investigation, it seems the Local channel had the local property set to false somehow. I don't know how that happened, but it leads me to think something awwwfuwwy scwewy is going on awound here.

My server has the same problem. The local channel always switches back to false every time I change it. Editing other plugins work, but HeroChat doesn't. I tried downgrading to 3.0, re-installing a new config file, re-installing just the .jar, and re-installing HeroChat completely, but nothing worked.

There was a bug in the 3.00 converter that didn't check for local channels.

However, I just tried using your files on my test server and it's running without any issues. What revision of bukkit are you running? Can you trying disabling other plugins to see if it's a conflict with another plugin causing the issue? The error you reported isn't actually related to HeroChat, so I'm not sure where it's coming from.

Ah, I just found the issue with local channels not saving properly. Uploading a fix in a sec.
    --- merged: Feb 16, 2011 10:30 PM ---
Fix posted. Local channels should now be saved properly, but still try what I said above for the other issue.

    Changelog:
    Version 3.02
    • Bug fix: local channels should now save correctly.

The local channel still isn't saving, I still have the problem. I'm on the latest version of CraftBukkit, just in case you need to know.

OK, further tinkering solved it for me. I originally tried a non-restart patch that involved replacing the .jar after disabling the plugin. After deleting all herochat files during a short shutdown, and then replacing them with copies from my test server, it seems to be working great.

My opinion - it may just have some minor glitch with forgetting to unload some things when the plugin is disabled. I can't be sure about that, though.

I'm not sure if reenabling a plugin will actually check for a modified jar. I'm glad it works now.

Thescreem, have you tried the updated version? You would have to manually set it to local to start but the new version should then save it.

Yea, I tried the updated version. I shut down my server, deleted all the HeroCraft files, and then installed the updated ones. I then took my old config file and put it inside the HeroCraft folder with local turned on. I'm going to try again, because it seems like its working for everyone else.

EDIT: Just tried to re-install it again, and local still doesn't work. I shut down the server, deleted the HeroChat folder and .jar, put in the updated folder and .jar then put in my old config.yml file, and made sure that local was set to true. Could the problem be that I'm using the old config.yml file?

    Latros

Our server currently has a "double-chat" with HeroChat. It happened overnight and I don't really know why.

    Basically, when someone talks, its like this;
    [G] [Admin][Latros]: Hello world!
    <Latros>: Hello world!

Is this a known bug? Is there a fix?

    Could you help me? :)

Hello DT im having issues with the latest herochat...

I updated and now everyone can see all channels even if they are hidden or assigned to certian groups only, also when i do /ch reload it kicks me from the server and then there are 2 instances of herochat running. That doesnt really bother me though the part that bothers me is that everyone can see staff chat, even though there not supposed to, and you can see local no matter how far away, etc etc.

I even tried deleting all the data COMPLETELY redownloading from SCRATCH and re-setting it up. And it still does it. :\

/ch reload disconnects me with internal server error, upon reconnect, chat is all doubled up.
    each message is seen twice.

Also do you think maybe Towny is conflicting with HeroChat causing my chat issue to show up no matter what wether its local or not, etc.?

Towny has town and nation chat, but its, its own thing so im not sure if that is the culprit.

Looking into the /ch reload issue right now.
    --- merged: Feb 17, 2011 4:55 AM ---
Okay, new version posted. It should fix the reloading issue and local channels should finally work again.

Sorry for the issues since 3.00. I had to entirely redo the configuration saving and loading code and doing so introduced a few silly bugs. Everything should work fine now, but please let me know if you have more troubles and I'll do my best to help as fast as I can.

    Changelog:
    Version 3.03
    • Bug fix: local channels should REALLY save and work correctly - seriously.
    • Bug fix: the /ch reload command no longer crashes the client

What channels are you trying to talk in? Besides the ones you listed, the only other channel you have defined is AlertSystem.

Alert system and local do not appear in the chat box and show as global on the server.
