Hello! I read the posts of others and ended up getting very confused because I thoughtthat possibly two cases are like mine, but the posters do not share how resolveramoproblem, so I was lost. The ImminentFate told these two guys who had to translate the words into my language. Well I tried that, but I did not know exactly 'what' should Itranslate, I end up doing stupid things. I do not want anyone translate for me, I just wantto be told 'what' translate into CraftBukkit Starter.bat

My language is Portuguese, my windows is XP - 32bits, my java is v6 and this is theerror screen that appears on my computer:

    __________________________________________________________
'timeout' não é reconhecido como um comando interno
ou externo, um programa operável ou um arquivo em lotes.

Note: I tried replacing the code Starter CraftBukkit I downloaded the code shown in this link: http://wiki.bukkit.org/Setting_up_a_server but the only change in the problem is that the words "'timeout' is not recognized as an internal command
or external, operable program or batch file. "disappears.

Sorry for my English failed (I do not know English law and used a translator) and alsothe trouble, but I do not know what else to do ...

    Hello!

Ok im running windows 7 and i got the server installed but at the same time i kinda didnt.

What happened was that i downloaded the installer and the patch for java 6. Now im using Google chrome when you download something, it goes to a file named downloads and an icon appears on the bottom where you can click and open said file instantly from the downloads file.
Now when i did this, the patch worked and created all the files and things it needed it like so:
It creates the server fine and i can run it with plugins and everything works perfectly. So i close the server for a second, go into my downloads file and run the CraftBukkit Starter JRE6.bat but this time it said java is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable file or batch file. I didn't move the file, I didn't change the name or anything. It's the same exact file. So re-download the patch and click the button that pops up so i can run it instantly and it works? I figured out that when i run it from the quick button, it works fine but otherwise, no matter where else i put it or run it from, it wont work.

    What is going on

Edit: I noticed that when i tried to use my command prompt to find the version of java i have, it also said "java is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable file or batch file" if that helps

    @fruitydoritoes
Hey, you need to replace the existing .bat file with the patch one. So, you should have the patch in the same folder as where the server was installed

Okay,so I might have made a problem with the code an it doesn't work on xp properly. Just open up the .bat file and delete all the optimization paragraph

Please read my post properly man, it tells you how to fix this error

You might need to restart your computer and delete everything in the server folder besides the plugins, the .bat file and the craftbukkit .jar. Then try running the server

    are you on windows xp?
If you are, you will have to go into the .bat file and remove all the lines starting with timeout/

Hello, I am really happy you have made this. But, when I run the patch you provided for Java 6, it optimizes and all, and then it says "Unable to access jarfile C:\Users\Justin\Downloads\craftbukkit-0.0.1-snapshot.jar
    Press and key to continue..."

I am running on Java 6 and my OS is Windows 7, 64-bit. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :)

make sure you have full administrator rights to the folder, but i don't know why you would install it into a downloads folder. Try leaving it as the default folder when you install it and see if that works

My downloads folder is the default folder that things I download go to. :\ I'll try to re-download that and it see if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks!

I'm on Vista, and I have the same problem as boothboy. But it also says " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Press any key to continue . . ." I went into the batch file and deleted all the lines starting with timeout/, but I don't know what to do with the java problem. I have Java 1.7.0 and installed the java 1.7 version. I have another bukkit server that runs on Hamachi, but I wanted it to not be dependent on Hamachi anymore. I used to be able to do port-forwarding... Then it stopped for some reason. I couldn't use ip-config anymore because I got the same error I got with java. Any ideas? It would really help out.

the temporary files that cant be deleted are ones that you need. Don't worry about that. The end of stream error is because you haven't set up your server properly.

    whateverness

    these two:
    rmdir "%TEMP%" /s /q >NUL
    rd "%WINDIR%\Temp" /s /q >NUL
are evil, in CraftBukkit Starter JRE7.bat
they are completely removing that temp folder, which is something I do not want so I disabled them. I am having them as directory symbolic link to another drive's temp folder since I am running on SSD, I don't want temp folder on the SSD (ie. mklink /d temp e:\temp )

anyway, after disabling those, I'm not getting any more errors like I've seen some users get about .dlls missing in the temp folder

Is removing temp folder really necessary ?

    ShadwNinja

So I installed the Craftbukkit Universal Installer for Java 1.6 since I have 1.6.0_26b03. I start the laucher and it says Java is not supported by this version. I then downloaded the patch for Java 6 for x64 Windows 7. I tried this launcher and it says 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. It also says it cannot find java.exe. Do I need 64-bit Java? I apparently have 32-bit.
And also how would I use craftbukkit with the server I just made? With no mods or anything? It uses Hamachi to login and it works fine. I just don't know how to use craftbukkit with it. Sorry if someone has already posted a problem like this but I am new to this and not quite sure where to find it really. And tell me if there is any other information you need to help if you can.

well, you're right, and i suppose deleting the temp folder may not be neccesarry. However, any files that are needed are simply not deleted by the script, which will bring up an "access denied" message. Deleting the temp folder means your pc gets a quick scrub down of any junk. And, the next time you do almost anything, the temp folder gets created anyway.

to your last apology: someone has posted this before- about 50 in fact. Just see underneath the download link for the patch that fixes this problem ;)

I haven't got much experience with those, but rest assured, I will be making one after a few weeks (got cricket trials next week then exams and assignments :/ )

Sorry I can't help you with that. Other people have found restarting their computers works, but if that doesn't, a quick Google search should see your problem solved ;)

Suggestion on Bat file launcher. Change line 4

if not exist "%systemdrive%\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\Java.exe" goto :fail

My Program Files directory is on the D drive and not the C drive.

You can download it again and install it to the same place as before, and everything will be fixed

Your suggestion is a bit overdue ;) I changed it weeks ago, you should see the changes in the new version
