    Chat message as the "key" as a certain password ...

    Red = MEOW
    Blue = 19289218392

    those would be the "key?"

    No, the keys will not be passwords. If you receive a key, you will get a message saying "You have received the [color] key for [location]", the number of "keys" you have for which location will be stored in a text document. You can also set certain keys to be consumed upon use.

    Yes it does, however at this pace I wont be finished till Christmas :p I could really use a co-developer (or rather a tutor) or someone to take over who feels they would be able to do this justice.

    If anyone wants to help coach me through this development, I would really appreciate it! Please PM me if you want to help.

    Very cool :) I might be willing to help out, great job coming up with this as well. So just to clarify you can have more doors that the 16 colors of wool because you name the doors? If you get a red key are you able to open all red doors? Will there be multi world support? What data storage are you planning? Flat file storage?

    @dak393 : if you get a key you'll be able to open a "specific location"

    Ok so the colors are basically cosmetic XD Still nice to have though

    You can have up to 16 colors in one location. If you have a dungeon with 16 locked doors, and you have to obtain each from, say, and NPC (while questing) then you can eventually obtain all 16 for that location (assuming you actually have 16 in one location :p )

    I plan to eventually add multi-world support, but not yet. Honestly I just started using Java so beyond the block recognition I really don't have any idea what I'm doing yet, lol. I'm slowly learning more as I study and ask questions, but on my own it would be a while before this is released, even for testing/beta/source-code.

    Finally v. 0.1.0 :D special thanks to @Feed_Dante for taking the time to help debug. Note to self: never use colons for storing strings into property files.

    Version 0.2.0! Again, special thanks to @Feed_Dante for a thorough debugging! 3 hours over one overlooked thing =/ but now we're ever closer to beta release! Expect it hopefully by the end of this week (pending on our schedules).

    Beta should be released tonight (Saturday Aug 27th) around 11 PST! Just to get an estimated figure, how many of you would like to have this on your server (or at least try it out)?

    Edit: Lol, so I guess no one is fond of the idea then? :p

    We've hit a snag, may be a few days before we release beta. We'll keep you posted!

    Decided to wait till 1.0, ended up forgetting about it, lol. Been like 4 months since we've even looked at the code. We may start it up again, if we feel it's significant enough, but don't hold your breath. I'll talk to dak.

    Lost interest (Do to having almost 0 interest from the community, well at least it felt that way =/ ) and had other stuff to complete (like stuff I'm actually getting paid to do :p). Kind of felt pointless to work on something no-one even said they would use XD (It wasn't actually pointless just felt that way again back to the loss of drive)

    Would you guys consider using an open license, so someone else could finish it off?

    Too much time has gone into ColorKeys to hand over what we have. We would like to make the completion of this plugin an eventuality, and because of that the plugin will remain in development by Dak and I. If you find our vacationing to be too tedious then by all means feel free to mimic our plugin for personal use, but please do not distribute any likeness of it on Bukkit.

    Just thought I'd let you know that Dak and I will be revisiting the code tonight, seeing as we were close to releasing a beta 4 months ago. You might expect a workable plugin by the weekend, unless updating from 1060 to 1.0.1-R1 will require too many changes, in which case it will all depend on our schedules to pump out a beta.

    Just as a notification of our progress, selection and creation is now fully bug free and 1.0.1-R1 compatible (literally, I spent a half hour trying to break it, and it's fool proof). All we have to do is add protections, and updating to 1.1 for Bukkit should be seamless.

    I know it's been said before, but beta WILL be out shortly.

    Update: All we need to finish now is our redstone protections. Other than that, just 2 bugs and we're ready for beta release!

    Edit: due to a 1.0 redstone bug, we are not able to complete the plugin at this time. We prefer to wait for a stable release before we change too much, so expect beta within a few days after 1.1 bukkit arrives.

    Update: We have begun modifying our plugin for 1.1-R1 accordingly. Because of our schedules we have not had the time to notice the new event system, so we feel like we've had sand thrown in our eyes. Should be a (somewhat) simple fix, but updating to 1.1 will set us back a night.

    As of 1-30-2012 at 11pm PST, we only have one more bug to squash until we can release a stable/testable beta! In the mean time, if you're interested in this plugin, you can learn more about it from the "Pages" tab in our BukkitDev!

    We have added a quote unquote "wiki" (in the BukkitDev site), and you can find all the information here: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/colorkeys/pages/how-to-use-color-keys/

    We realize we have made this plugin with no real support (verbally) so, if you're interested in this plugin, please stop by and say hello! :)

    Testable APLHA has been released! Read the info on the OP for more info. Read the disclaimer, it's crucial!

    Please note the known bugs!

    Full Version Released! :D

    Don't worry, we still have a lot of functionality to add, but for now this has enough functionality, and is stable enough to be considered our release!
