    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.

      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak

      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills

      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    this was cool out first but it nothing but annoying later when you wanna use a tool your class cant use personally i dont liek this at all ir emoved it im no trying to be a hater or troll but my suggestion is allow ops to use all items no matter what classs also how am i suposed to know my skills?

    I've had Heroes working perfectly since it was released. It seems to have broken for no apparent reason now.

    Heroes' debug log only say "2011-08-11 12:59:28 [SEVERE] [Heroes] Critical error encountered while loading. Disabling..."

    Then the console is completely spammed with "Could not pass event to Heroes" stuff.

    I have parsed all my yaml files, which shouldn't even be the problem since they've been working for a while and have not been touched.

    After looking at the original console error in the server log, I think LIGHTGRAY in the config.yml maybe be fucking it up. Should I be using LIGHT_GRAY or GRAY?

    EDIT: Changing LIGHTGRAY to simply GRAY resolved everything.

    How do I make parent/child work? I'm trying to make it so you can choose your own path from starting off as the default by adding several parents to him, but I don't think it works that way. I can't seem to make multiple parents for the default class, but what I'm aiming for is an RPG where you start off unsure, and then you can direct yourself in whatever playing style is most comfortable from a number of classes to pick as you progress, but right now it seems linear. Any ideas?

    Do you think you could give an example using a class? I need a perfect example the default didn't direct me in the right direction for some reason. I just need an example of giving permissions through leveling and the child parent relationship for multiple classes :p

    He obviously is referring to hero files being created with NPC's, and yes, we do have an API so NPC's can hook into Heroes, which is why I asked - leave the trash talking out of this thread else it will be removed
    Have you looked at the default configs? they should be there for this relationship.

    I'm having a couple minor problems and questions.

    First question, many attacks such as bleed, charge, smite, etc which require you to select a target only work on players and not mobs. I believed this was a bug in Heroes until I watched HolyRane's video in which he smote a cow. How can I fix this?

    Second, I know I can configure items to do a certain amount of dmage according to class, but can I configure it so that a spell does more dmage when bound to a specific item? Example: If my Necromancer uses drainsoul, it will drain 2 hearts. But if he uses his Necromancer's Scythe (diamond hoe), it drains 4 hearts.

    Wow, those are some epic additions, I'll prolly try those. However, you could try renaming fire to firering or ringoffire to not mix people up.

    Yet again a bump as it keep falling away and there is no respondse at all sadly.

    Today on the server we did a update. So this is the current versions we are using:

    Heroes Ver(build): 1.1.4
    Perms 3.1+ Ver: 3.1.6
    CraftBukkit Ver: 1000
    BukkitContrib Ver: 0.1.6

    Same issues remain and the logs do not show any errors.

    Hopefully there could be any respondse on this issue as I would like to continue to use this lovely plugin.
