    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills

      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    There seems to be some issues with FIRE / LAVA enums in bukkit - it seems that we cant adjust 'LAVA' damage, because bukkit counts it as FIRE damage.

    Ok, updated with a temporary fix. LavaEffects now checks for fire damage as well. Also added a check to be sure the player is in or immediately next to lava. Added a simmilar check to the FireEffects.

    Would it be possible to set this whole plugin to one world with it not having any affect on others? so i can have my normal build world but then allow people to go to the rpg world where the plugin is active?

    Hey, my compliments to you guys. Best RPG plugin out there, by far better than mcMMO.

    I've been having problems with alot of skills. The characteristics listed in skills.yml (such as max-distance, duration and damage) do not apply in-game. Thus, I cannot seek a target with my bleed or charge, and pulse does nothing. What do I do? (I tried putting some things into classes.yml itself, put i ended up ruining heroes, so i reverted to just mana, level and cooldown).

    Any idea what this could be? as its recurring on my server continuously and I ahev used your Hero config file but there some skills missing like Star and leech and others, are these available or are they not in use anymore ? I used your config file as it was pre-set up and easy to use and re-customize, Thanks for any response

    Hey, made another skill. This one is probably not useful on most servers, but has some interesting possibilites. Its called "Exorcise" It forces the target to change classes without their consent. Only players with the new "SuperNatural" skill can be exorcised. (Yep, completely stolen from SuperNatural plugin)

    Tried that one before I posted. :p

    It turns off the mana regen and exp gain notices, but not the skill spam notices.

    My players get too much damage from a skeleton. I tried to change it in the damage file as arrow and as skeleton but it doesnt work. But I forgot if maybe the skeleton was bugged with the damage file. Does anyone know what I can do or if their is something to do that.

    can any1 tell me what max-health-per-level: 1.0 like we have 10 hearts does that add another heart that we cant see? and Explosive fireball doesnt go up or down it can only be aimed straight

    Open your skills.yml file and change the text to '' make it display nothing change that on whatever skills you want.

    I believe the mob damage is still a little bugged but I'm sure a dev will chime in :)


    Heroes displays hearts as a percentage of your health (use "/hp" to see that) so if you have 22 / 44 hp it would show 5 hearts. It will NOT add hearts as that would require a mod. Do you mean it fires in the direction you are looking because that is intended... although this may be a bug (haven't gotten a chance to mess with that one yet :) )

    Oh, here's a thought. Is it possible to have the skills to be displayed only for the user casting them? Or so that only party members can see it instead of the entire server?

    I don't believe so not yet just like you can't change skill names. But they are working on many improvements so I hope thats one of them :)

    OK, hit something on my system, and I'm not sure what to do to fix it. We're trying to make a merchant class, and I'm granting the permissions access via skills to the iConomyChestShop permissions. Now, I have other stuff set up using the permissions skills: Backstab, cauldron, building, etc. All that works fine, but the chest shop doesn't. The ONLY difference between the two is the capital letters. The permission node for the chest shop creation is: iConomyChestShop.shop.create. It doesn't look like the heroes permission skills setup is translating the capital letters back over.

    I added the same nodes to our players through permissions, and everything works fine. So, any advice would be appreciated.

    EDIT: Also, I know you guys use bukkitcontrib on your plugin, but Spout is more or less replacing that one. Any plans to upgrade and support Spout?

    yes but if u look up it doesnt shoot up, what if a ranger is jumping the mage and the mage tries to shoot him but the ranger just stays on high ground cuz the spell cant even go up :p

    but on another note the health per level thing 1.0,,,,, uh so it does add a heart to the person though right?

    Ok so it is an actual error report errors HERE since its a new (ish) spell they don't have all the bugs out but are working on it. :)

    Im having some issues with some spells. Spells like Blaze and Pulse are not working. When a mob or player is in range I can spam it all I want, it will not work. When the mobs/players are out of range the spell can be used (but ofcouze does not work). Changing the range did not fix the issue

    Below is the setup for the class ive used. The server runs on:
    Craftbukkit #1000, permissions 3.0, essentials 2.4.2,heroes 1.1.4

    We also seemed to have some issues XMuteOre. It works for transmuting Coal into Iron ore. But Ironore to gold seems to fail.
    Ive got the iron ore in my hand. 64 of them and when I use the spell nothing happens. If I hold coal it transmutes as it supposed to be.

    Summon also not seems to work. Im doing /skill summon zombie and nothing happens. Or does it not support all mobs?

    Are you using the 3.0 beta for ChestShop? If so the permissions are no longer iConomyChestShop, they are just Chestshop.whatever. I had this same problem.

    And I believe they already mentioned that there are plans to upgrade to Spout at some point.
