Hello, Today i've tried to make an CraftBukkit server. I'm using Minecraft 1.7.2 downloaded edition. Done what the Make a server tutorial says but... When i type in my Hamachi IP i can join, But my friends can't! The error my friend are getting is something about connection timed out, Even thought my internet connection is good and my friends also. So how can i fix this?

A fast reply would be appreciated!

I also had that problem, I fixed it by disabling Windows FireWall for public networks then people could join :3
    So try that,Hope it works!

Well if you have windows 7 (vista?) I dont know if it's the same with vista but probably..
So you press on "Start" And Then Just Search For "Firewall" It Should Come up some things about firewall, you want to open "Windows Firewall" Then Just press "Turn Windows Firewall On Or off Then under "Public network location Settings" press turn off and then hit "ok" , I dont really know if it's like very safe but, it's the public firewall so your private stuff should still have a firewall protecting them if im correct, But IF this doesnt work you could ask your friends if they are typing :25565 behind your hamachi ip.. like this "5.232.133.16:25565" that could also be a problem why they can't connect, OR They are still "red" in hamachi which means they're blocked, It can go away with time but if not just tell them to restart hamachi and try again or you restart hamachi. Hope It Helps :)

Tried both of them nothing worked. D: Is this the end for me to host Bukkit servers?

Also, DO i have to portforward? I haven't done that.

this is the source of your problems. the answer is YES without doing this they have no way of connecting to your machine. you MUST tell your router where to send that traffic.

Thanks for the answer, But i tried portforwarding my Default gateway that didn't work. So should i portforward my Hamachi ip or?

No your router does not need to be portforwarded for hamachi :)
But your friends need to run hamachi and to be logged on to your hamachi network to join :)

That's the problem. They are Logged on and they're in my Hamachi Network and they can't join.

If you have port forwarded, then you should NOT use the Hamachi Ip, they should connect to the Ip of your router.

hamachi (IMO) is a bad crutch to use (why depend on someone elces software if you dont need to) try using the default(like a good admin should) system as it has more bennefits in the long run and your less dependant on outside stuff, also less setup for users in the furture. try looking for other firewalls (windows firewall antivirus firewall) it may sound complecated now but I promise its worth it in the long run. it will teach you some basics of networking and server management.

Well, I don't get it since i don't have an experienced programming/network background.
This is my first bukkit server, I've had some of my friends who're hosting CraftBukkit via Hamachi.
All they say that you have to do is set Online-mode to false, Use your hamachi IP, Make a folder called lib with minecraft server.jar. And that's it. Did all that and nothing still works... :(

EDIT: Some people say you need SQL/SQL Lite/MySQL. Do i need that also?

Go to Start Menu>Run. Type cmd. Press Enter. Type ipconfig. Press Enter. Record the number at IPv4 address. Go to your Internet. Click in the place where you type www.bukkit.org and type 192.168.1.1 (Note: Depending on your Router, this may vary! This number, however, works with most routers). Then press Enter. Look for "Applications and Gaming" or "Port Forwarding" as a Tab. Once you're there, type MC for the name. For the Start, type 25565. For the End, type 25565. Enable TCP/UDP. For the IP, you should see 3 of the 4 segments of the IP we recorded earlier. All you have to do is supply the 4th segment. Once you do that, Check the Enable box (If you have one), and Save Changes. Your server should now not need Hamachi. If you have any problems, just reply here,

I don't really know why i should portforward when lots of youtubers and my friends can do it without portforwarding.

It's impossible to host a home server without Hamachi and not PortForward. Anyone that says otherwise is lying or does not know that they are talking about.

I would be glad to help you set this up via skype and teamviewer so it is done right. adding hamachi to your users list of installed programs is not a good idea. I will gladly teach you how to do this as long as hamachi is nowhere in sight.

He said WITHOUT Hamachi, your running with Hamachi = not the same.
What he means is that you can't run a server without hamachi, and at the same time not do port-forwarding :)

Oh okay then I got it wrong. For me it sounded like you need hamachi and port-forwarding :)

Oh ok, But can you tell me how? Because 14th of july i've been looking for some answers. And i've never found one that works.
My friend says that you only need to make that start.bat thing, run it, Change online-mode to false and type the IP of your Hamachi. And that still doesn't work. :|

Does your friends hava a yellow triangle beside their names at the hamachi client?
If this is the case you and they should follow this instructions:

I hope you understand this because I'm not so good in English.

1.Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Network Connections(don't know exactly in german "Adaptereinstellungen ändern" >>Press the "Alt"-Key >> Advanced >> Advanced Settings >> Adapters and Bindings >> Connections and set Hamachi to the first position
2.Then make a rightclick on Hamachi in the "Manage Network Connections" Window.
    3.Click on Properties(Eigenschaften).
4.Than doubleclick Internet Protocol Version 4.
    5.Click on Advanced.
6.If on StandardGateway is one Entry with the Gateway "5.0.0.1" then select it and click on Edit.
7.If it isn't there click Add..
8.Then disable the "Automatic Metric" and change it to "1500".
9.After this also disable the "Automatic Metric" in the window where the standardgateway is listed and set it to "10".
10.After that click on Ok, Ok and Ok.
    Then restart your Computer.
Your friends should to this too.

for a different port edit the server.prperties at the point : "server-port=25565"
then you have to join with the 5.165.139.222:port ip.
Port represents the port in the server.properties
