I've noticed a lot of strife around here about URL shorteners and their general sketchy nature. Most shorteners tend to be over loaded with popups, malware, and are just generally annoying. That being said, I decided to host a simple URL shortening script that will shorten URLs and host those shortened URLs on my site.
It is quick and easy and no one will get swamped with ads, malware, redirects, or any of that annoying stuff. It even tracks clicks for those of you whom like to keep track of your download stats!
I hope this helps some people out, enjoy!

The admins have discouraged use of any URL shortening service, whether it be ad-based or not:

oh, well people can still use it cause its a lot better than stuff like adfly in terms of ease of use, no one need to worry about me trying to do anything malicious

I updated this URL shortener to have display the link you are being forwarded to to prevent people from being sent to malicious links. In addition plugin devs or whom ever can now track the total number or clicks their shortened URL has received!

Personally, there are much better url shorteners out there. Why yours is lacking (I will just be using cl.ly and bit.ly as examples, but there are others I could mention too)
    • Long URL (things like cl.ly, bit.ly are much shorter)
    • Ads (cl.ly and bit.ly are instant)
    • Ease of use (cl.ly and bit.ly both have history, click to copy, web history. cl.ly has a desktop app)
    • Trustworthiness (I personally am not about to start using a brand new service to shrink urls that main contain sensitive data)
    Also, moved to Bukkit Tools.

to each his own. I was going to incorporate it with some developer resources I plan on hosting so I decided I might be able to simplify things by keeping it in house

    thanks for the move!
