    I would really like to know how to make my server quite a bit faster...it lags a lot for me, and for other players. I am directly connected to my router, and am running on windows 7 64-bit, and I always seem to get error messages pop up in my server cmd. I'm sure there's a simple way to do it, I just have no clue. Please help! Thanks!

    You will need to add more RAM to your system if you want more RAM for your server, unless you haven't allocated all of it. If you run a bunch of other programs on the same machine, or are even playing on the same machine, then that can also eat up RAM. Try removing any useless or unused plugins, update to the newest recommended build, and update your plugins to their highest recommended build.

    What does this have to do with beeing a nerd?! When using a computer one should at least know the basics... Or if you don't know something (which is absolutely OK, nobody knows everything), there's allways google to help you find the answer for you questions... Let me google that for you :)

    And yes maybe I am a nerd, but well thats my job I get payed for, so...

    Yes, it does. I downloaded a 2GB set and now my server can handle 20 more players.

    I suggest to download the 4 GB RAM pack, it gives you 2x more RAM then the 2 GB RAM pack for the same money!

    ....

    In all seriousness, how would one go about allocating more RAM to their Bukkit servr. I have 8gb RAM, and i think 1024 of it is allocated.

    IS there any drawbacks to allocating all of it?

    Depends on your operating system and what other programs you are running. I don't think you should allocate all your RAM to Java, your OS will need some too. (yes I know about swapping, but I think you should try to avoid that).

    If Minecraft is the only program you're running, then you might try "java -Xms=6G -Xmx=6G minecraft_server.jar" to give minecraft 6GB. That should be a large improvement and a good value on any OS. Java can use more memory than you specify this way, as this is only for the heap size.

    When I open the craftbukkit starter in Notepad, it gives me this

    @ECHO OFF
    IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "%~dp0craftbukkit-0.0.1-snapshot.jar"
    IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86" java -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "%~dp0craftbukkit-0.0.1-snapshot.jar"
    PAUSE

    I have 64bit OS. So I should change the "Xmx1024m" to "Xmx6G"

    To use 6GB ram in bukkit, you would also need to make sure the Java is 64 bit as well, I would imagine?

    it won't work as both of the starters only use the 32 bit version of java
    you need to download the 64 bit version of java (preferable JRE 7) and then use java located at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java"

    Also, everyone who downloaded ram from that "DLRam" site prob has a virus, as all the links lead to the SAME PAGE! HOW CAN IT TELL THE DIFFERENCE IF THE LINKS ARE THE SAME?!

    Tell me that.
