    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.

    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.

I would ask if you could fix its super-aggressive behavior if it finds anything in the res.yml that can't be right. It just clears the whole file or removes all Residence following the wrong one.
I don't know what caused it to kill 23 of 27 pages in the residence list this time, and we have no backup for our server (I know this is damn stupid) -- but the last time it cleared up the whole config, it was one wrong coordinate for a tp point somewhere. This time, just the server crashed and almost every residence is gone.

I would change it to throw out a
    [SEVERE] res.yml has wrong format
or something, instead of just clearing stuff... That's not what any program should do if it finds errors.

Thanks for your good work apart from this!
    Greetings.
    Simon

Care to explain why every single residence I had is now deleted with no backup whatsoever? Sorry to be offensive, but this is very frustrating... Now I have to manually restore every residence, this will take hours.

  5. Hey, it seems whenever one of my players try to buy a residence, it says they don't have permission to.

I've added the permissions node 'residence-create' to their groups, and then in the config file I put their group name down. But they still can't buy residences? Any ideas?

you would have to write a plugin of some sort using the residence api which would be able to tell if players are inactive. (as an example, have a script which grabs all inactive users and dumps them out to a file, and have your plugin read in that file and purge their residences.)
thats due to how residence works, when it detects a parser error it cancels the load, and then when it shutsdown/saves it saves out all the residences in memory, which is none. it doesn't automatically wipe the file. (i don't particularly like this behaviour either.) extra tip: make a backup of your res.yml with your map backup. :) and run the file through a yml parser when making manual changes.
full error (on console)? (in codeblock or on pastebin please.) just internal error doesn't help much.
same as simon, always make a backup yourself, especially when upgrading. had this happen myself, i know how you feel :(
buying is different to creating. in the config you set if they can/can't buy, and if so, how many they can. i don't believe there is a specific node that lets you buy stuff.

Well, wouldn't you be able to implement a flag that will be deciding IF Residence saves all the residences in memory or not, and make its default value false, only changing it to true when no parsing errors occur? And throwing out a warning/severe to the console or something.

    Hi,

I just tried to remove an old map using multiverse, in which some players had previously made residences. When the server next restarted Residence said it could not find the old worlds (as they were gone) and disabled its self.

Is there a way to remove all the residences within a world to stop this error happening?

i could, but it's not my plugin :)
you haven't finished your residence config:
    Code:
    Groups:
Default: #group name <---- one of these for each permissions group.
           # Information about the Residence zone that the player can define.
           Residence:
             .....
you need to have a residence group for each permissions group, i.e. your residence config should be much much longer. so instead of Default, you need one for new user, subadmin etc.

it will tell you the version of craftbukkit your running when the server starts up.

Hey, I got a question bekvon

Interesting bug that one of my members found. If you try and plant a sign on the side of a cactus in somebody elses residence, the cactus produces another sign and you keep the one you tried to place.

This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-904-g9277096-b953jnks (MC: 1.7.2)

This is what the console writes :)

When will this plugin work with permissionsbukkit? Everytime I try and use this with permissionsbukkit I get an internal error.

  21. For those asking for it to work whit permissionbukkit, go read the permissionbukkit thread, there is a bridge from permission to permissinbukkit

I read it and have the bridge. It works fine too. But this plugin is giving me an internal error ever since I have installed permissionsbukkit.

Every time I upload res.yml and start my server it renames the file to "pre-upgrade-res.yml". Is there a solution to this?
I am running mcmyadmin with a server through servercraft, everything is updated. I somehow got settings to update earlier on the res.yml but haven't been able to since then.

just for general info, the version is in the end of the version: b953jnks. so your running #953
currently residence only supports permissions, up to bevkon to implement it, which won't be soon i believe.

  26. Had the same problem what i did was re-download the residence and craftbukkit.jar, and it just started to work.

    does not work!
please give it a go, remove permissions add the official permissions and official permissions bridge(superpermbirdge) then load the server .. all looks fine
    then type /res
now watch your log fill up with cant pass to residance etc etc as i reported on post 2112 (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/se...ll-land-economy-1000.9358/page-71#post-508736)

to which the author @bekvon has completly ignored (infact completly ignored any of us asking for this to be adapted away from the now obsolite permissions to the official permission plugin. im guessing it means an extensive rewrite or maybe its not possible or maybe the author is just too busy to say anything (even an "im aware of this but too busy to fix right now" would be good)

i would say this is heading towards inactive territory which is a shame cos apart from the rather cumberson config and lack of comunication it looks like a good plugin

Having issues getting this to work properly...

    • CraftBukkit Version: v.1000
    • Residence Version: v2.3.5
    Issue 1:
In my Console I do not show that the Residence Plugin ever activates. Doesn't tell me if it's linking to my Economy System or any other System. (BOSEconomy/Multiverse)

    Issue 2:
When I edit the YML Config File to change the Interval between saves, the Economy System, and a few other things, I click save, and it doesn't apparently save. OR: It does save, but when I restart my server, it automatically reverts back to the base file as if none of the changes went through. Any ideas?

    Issue 3:
Permissions - I'm using GroupPermissions, now I know this doesn't technically support it, but atleast the 2 of them don't generally cause any errors. However I know Residence has it's own Permissions Group Configs in this case since I do use GroupPermissions. I know it's towards the bottom, but could someone provide a lil more insight on how to edit it without jacking it up? <<^^^ And before I work on this one, I would need to find out how to fix Issue 2.

    Thanks in advance!
