THIS IS NOT AN UPDATE FOR MINECRAFT RELEASED IN OCT 2013

    Show Spoiler

    Update - July 1, 2011 at 3:01PM EST:
Minecraft 1.7.2 contains a dupe exploit that will ruin your economy or could create other issues. We strongly recommend waiting for a fix from either Mojang or ourselves before updating.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

We're pleased to announce our fastest update ever, and we've just made our 1.7.2 compatible build of CraftBukkit available to download as a recommended build here.

For those who are interested, we had a 1.7 update ready for testing within 15 minutes of 1.7 being launched. That's compared to hours or even days we usually take! 1.7.1 was ready within 10 minutes, and 1.7.2 was ready in just under 10.

We'd like to thank you all for helping us test these out, and rest assured we're trying everything we can to make these even faster for the future!

    All from this one page.

Ignorant pricks like you guys should get outright banned. You are nothing but a burden for developers, and a pain for regular forum readers.

Amen to this! Have patience, people, this stuff isn't easy. The devs can't just snap their fingers and have an updated Bukkit.

What i dont understand is why they put out a stable build and have not set a recommended build.. So there is a build available thats stable yet not recommended.

and then says this will be the RB but theres no number associated with it. To me its all very confusing and to the noobs it must be even worse.

So basicly what im getting is that they are not following there own format.

Someone(you) is a little hypocritical. Someone(not you) ON THIS PAGE already addressed that multiple people have been answered for the same question.

Being confused is all fine and cool. What I meant above was more like, these guys can't even be arsed to read the OP or the post right before their own. They just log in, spam their crap, and log off expecting help ASAP.

You can thank that group of people for why I don't bother trying to give technical support for my plugin releases. I even put in the OP a section which has common issues, and exactly how to solve them, but if you read through my thread, you can see that most people don't bother reading and just spam about how they can't get it to work for them. 99% of issues are failure to read.

It's the same tards here who want to know what's going on with Bukkit 1.7.3, and if they spent 2 minutes reading this thread they'd know already without having to shitpost everywhere.

Yes I don't understand why it is not a RB yet. Its stabe. And it has been said by dinnerbone that it will be the same build they have now, only with a number.... So why don't they just release it as a RB instead of just a stable? If its stable, release it, and update it with future builds like they always have. I have plenty of patience for the bukkit team. But you can do an entire brand new update in a claimed 10 minutes but can't release a RB of a .3 update yet. :/ it just sucks. Sorry for the rambling. Its a trickle effect. Users get mad at admins, so admins get mad at devs, and then devs get mad at notch. Keeps the world goin square. (in minecraft that is.)

Poor crowe..., Hmm guess they wont make record time this time :D
(They are going a little slow for such a small update, i've personally donated a small bit of money so i expect a little more effort)

I'm sure there doing the best they can! :D

I do agree however they need to keep us posted more and give us some sort of time estimate...

Yea thats all I ask. Is there any way to see what they have to do until they can make it a RB? Other than it being stable, what do they have like on list to accomplish before a RB? Then I could tell my users how long they cant ask me when will I update. Lol

You could tell you're users to take a look at this page: http://bukkit.org/ ;)
If there's no Recommended Build for MC 1.7.3 in the "Recommended Builds" box then you won't update ^^

hi, i'm new to this and i was wondering how long each update usually takes

  19. Offline

    muCkk

that depends on how much has changed in the update. could be only some hours but also several days.

I don't understand the problem. 1.7.2 was working fine, and the only major new thing was pistons not duplicating things. Why was there a recommended build for 1.7 done in a few hours, while it's been 2 days for 1.7.3 and there is still only a dev build? I just want to know what it going on that makes this update difficult. It's hard telling people on the server you don't have a clue and it could be released in 10 minutes or 1 week.

  21. What? Sure it's easy. It goes something like this:

'Sorry people, the free and volunteer made mod that I use for the server that makes all the stuff you use and enjoy so much, they haven't got it updated to the latest server release yet. Yes, you can update your client, no, pistons are still not allowed, sorry. Rest assured, I will update and make an announcement as soon as it's done. No, I don't know when it will be done, I'm not a coder and I'm not on the project, so just be patient, OK? Thanks!'

    See, simple! :)

And frankly, coming from the point of view of someone who runs servers for various coding projects but doesn't charge for them, if your users are threatening to leave, let them! You don't need them causing you extra stress and grief. If the server and world is good enough, they will stay and wait patiently. If they don't like it, they can leave and darken another IP elsewhere, or try running their own server and see just how much of a generally thankless job it really is (remember kids, always appreciate and thank your server admin and/or owner. You wouldn't have this if it wasn't for someone else being very generous with their time and money).:p

I would just like to say that I FULLY understand how stressful it has been for the bukkit team fixing yet another broken update. The fact that they continue to spend the hard work, time, and effort in takes in providing this service for us without charge should be given much more praise.

Yes as an admin I know the pressure we get from our players,.. but lets face it,.. just how awesome would ANY of our servers be without the Bukkit Mod. (Kiss all those pretty little plugins good-bye.)

So, on behalf of The Wraithaven Server, Bukkit Team we award you:

Great job guys,.. keep up the good work.

We just released 1.7.3, fixing a few piston bugs. Who knew such a "minor" feature would have so many corner cases, eh? http://forums.canarymod.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Thankfully, we got a lot of testing help from the Bukkit team. Behind the scenes, we've been testing the "modding api" (which in reality is just the full source code behind a license saying you can only use it to make free stuff, and that everything you make based off that can only be playable by people who have bought Minecraft) with them, and it's going very well.
We need to do some website infrastructure to allow anyone to sign up, but things are progressing nicely.

It's not really surprising that he didn't give it to them, I mean the Bukkit team Notch has been working and discussing things with for quite a while, but these guys how does he know he can even trust them?

Of all games that is been released and Mod(ified/moddable) you have groups that prefers one of the other community. With support or without support, they will cary out the best they can.

I speak of experiences in games and 'who isn't trying' one of the other. Community support = Continuing the game to last longer.

If the customer is unhappy, the business model needs to change.

I greatly appreciate the work the bukkit team does. I truly do. But you absolutely cannot expect the average forum user to read through 14 pages of posts to find if there's a recommended/stable/fail/numberless build floating around somewhere, especially when the first words that greet them on this website are "don't update," with absolutely zero indication that the team is even working on the problem. The absolute least they could do (and probably all they should do) is update the front page post and let everyone know something is happening. 5 seconds, just a few words, and _then_ you can be mad at your customer. You can't be mad at them if they are uninformed.

Last time I checked, bukkit was free and made by volunteers. Speaking of "unhappy customers" is total fail. They have no obligation to do anything.
Average forum user? Meh, I though you are a server admin, as in, Administrator, not your 'average forum user'.

I can not speak for them, but I'm quite sure they appreciate constructive criticism. Pseudo entitled whining, as if this was the AOL customer support forum and we were paying customers, is probably not appreciated, though.

    I knew this would happen.

A customer is a consumer. People utilize the product and service provided by the Bukkit team. Profit has nothing to do with whether or not you are running a business. Correct, people can leave if they don't like it. And they probably already have and may continue to do so. Sitting on your high horse about it doesn't fix anything.

I am a server admin. No where did I say that I personally was complaining about anything. I do my research and read through these threads just like the rest of you. Reading this entire thread was the impetus for my post. I'm just trying to shed some light as to why 90% of the people on this board are so lost all the time.

I said it in my last post and I'll say it again: I appreciate the work the Bukkit team is doing. I'm just offering my opinion as to why everyone gets so upset between updates. I'm not trying to pick a fight, and I'm certainly not insulting anyone. Just speaking my mind, as so many of you have already done (and more aggressively, at that).
