    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.
    • Shop plugin support. (Optional)
      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.
      • Enable/disable Towny in as many worlds as you like.

    REQUIRES
    • No other plugins, but is best with Questioner, so that invitations are given by Towns and Nations to residents and towns.
    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.
(We no longer recommend using PEX at all. It breaks TownyPerms due to the reflection PEX performs.)
    Supported Economy Plugins
    • iConomy 5.01
    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *
    • BOSEconomy *

    • Any Vault-capable economy plugin that supports false-player accounts. (Do not use register if your economy plugin is supported by vault.)

  3. Confirmed bug. It was working :(.

    I'll fix now.

    EDIT:

Temporary fix, till the next version....edit your config.yml and remove the [ ] from around the NPC in 'npc_prefix'.
You may also have to edit residents.txt and delete the NPC1 name, also delete the NPC1.txt file in the residents folder

Is there a way to make special permission group only for mayors or citizens?

    LlmDl

Not at the moment, but once there aren't any bugs to fix and database support is added I don't see why this couldn't be considered.

Our server waits it already 4 month=)
Also, optional chestprotect for citizens would be nice.

    Idea: What about Nation's lands?

  9. Nations lands would be a very hard thing to do as a nation can annex any town it would be a patchwork.

hi ,im a bit confused about wich version i have :S
i got the version of the old thread wich leads to this thread, and i downloaded the normal jar not the dev one,and it doesnt create a yml file in the settings or does the dev jar only support it?
i have another question about the town block size,on the wiki it says i cant change the size (16x16)
and atm im using the size 10x10 so will it be messed up if i upgrade it :S?
    thnx :)

I have to agree with this. I love how Towny lets players run their own towns, paying by the chunk. Many other systems, towns can just claim as much land as they want, and that means either only admins run towns or someone will just go and claim the whole world.

It might be possible to implement it by buying a cuboid per-block, but that would get into plenty of headaches of its own.

When you're ingame type /towny v to see which version you are running. It could be 0.68 (Fuzze) or 0.71 (Croxis). Only in 0.71.4 and above is the config.yml in use.

If you change your townblocksize it will change the positioning of your existing townblocks across the map. (It's something that should be set one time before you begin your first town.)

Plugin must support latest RECOMMENDED build unless there is a specific case where it does not work with a recommended build.

  15. Rigby made a change in 954 which affected how onPlayerMove reported locations. This Dev version will work on current RB and is tested upto the dev version of bukkit 955

The plugin Residence already does it, and there are no headaches. I don't see why it couldn't be applied to Towny.

I have it set that town_creation_admin_only=false, but players trying to create a town are told that only admins can create towns. How can I let them create towns? Also, why is the config.yml in the settings folder different than the one on the wiki?

You're using croxis' .71 so you'll need to give your players towny.town.new and towny.town.claim

  18. What you posted is from the config.properties of 0.71. If you are using the Dev version you need to alter the config.yml, or add the propriate permission nodes (if set to use permissions).

The Wiki config.yml is constantly updating as the dev version updates. Once a full release verison is made it will be stabilised.

I did look at Residence before I took over the development of Town. I chose Towny as I prefered the plot based system.

Strange- there's a field for giving the permission in the config, but it also needs to be enabled in Permissions' config. I assume this kind of stuff is being fixed in the dev build?

Croxis' rational was to move away from the config and fix support for all permission nodes. This isn't the case in Elgarl's builds. If permissions=true in the config you must you the permission nodes, if it is false, the config.yml's flags are used.

I'm running the .72 version you updated about an hour ago and im getting this error:

[towny] Database: [Load] flatfile [save] flatfile
    [towny] Debug: Loading World List
[towny] Debug: Loading Server World list
    [towny] Debug: Loading Nation List
    [towny] Debug: Loading Town List
    [towny] Debug: Loading Resident List
    [towny] Debug: Loading Worlds
[towny] Loading Error: Could not read world data 'world_neather'.
    [towny] Error: Failed to Load!
[towny] Version: 0.72.0 - mod disabled

I've tried deleting the world and letting the server recreate it from scratch but I'm still getting this. Any help is GREATLY appreciated (i read the wiki and all posts and couldn't find this info).

There's an entry in the config.yml that allows you to set a default town that all players join upon their first login to your server.

The only other way to join a town is to be invited by a mayor or a town assistant.

  26. go into yoru wolds folder and delete your world_neather.tct

ooh ok thanks that would be a cool feature if you could set a town to open or closed (like factions) so players could join without being invited

Sry to bother you but is there anywhere i could request that feature? i checked the post but i couldn't find anything except where you report issues. This would be a huge help on my server.

You could write up an issue for it, title it 'Suggestion: Allow mayors to let players join with an invite'
    and label it Type-Enhancement.

It's not a very good idea to do that as mayor, as griefers/thieves could join and mess up any blocks that allow allies and residents of the town build/destroy etc.

On my server I would like to start inviting people but I want to limit where they can build, I was thinking of doing it using this but it only let's me be mayor of one town. Is there a way for me to be the mayor of two towns? Nobody else wants to be mayor of this place. If not, can anyone recommend any other plugins?
