    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Hello there. I'm trying to set up HeroChat but I got some issues setting it up..
I want the config.yml to be like this http://pastie.org/2128184
So I'm always modifying it, uploading it via FTP and restarting my server.. but when I redownload it the 0815 config.yml comes up again..
(Oh yeah I modify while the server is running)

    Any help?

HeroChat is not detecting my defalt channel with Permissions 3.1.6, I am running SQL and it appears that there is no flag to set the defalt group, I think it is just assuming that any group that has no parent is the defalt.

Anyone know if this is an issue with HeroChat or Permissions?

Are you sure you gave it a name and a nickname?

Is it possible to add other colours? Or is that some complicated programing thing i cant understand.

I'm confused. OP says when Permissions 3.1 it released (has been for a long time now) that we will again have color/prefixes in chat. So... what are we waiting for? No color/prefix really sucks.

Also, the link providing a version that is supposed to work... doesn't. :(

How about adding a tag that lets you use the player's name rather than the display name:

{rawplayer} # Replaced with the player's name (not display name)

My player's display names have color codes in them that conflict with the colors applied via tags.

Not very well at all. I've lost all chat tags, colors, and not even my staff can create or join any channel other than global.... and it was a trick to get that much working.

I've posted about it here, but I've yet to get a response from a dev.

On my server (P3, HeroChat 4.10.3 and CB935) it is working pretty good. Okay we didn't test every feature, but prefixes/suffixes are working and other players could join other channels.

Okay, just having one problem. I copy the HeroChat.jar file into my plugins folder, start the server, stop the server, edit the config, and start the server back up. In the Console it says HeroChat was loaded successfully. My problem is that I cannot use the "/ch" command in-game or in the Console. Nothing happens when I type this. No errors or anything both In-Game and in the Console. I typed "/help" and "/ch" did show up as an option, so it seems that parts are working and parts of it aren't. My server is running Permissions 3.1.6, I am an admin (duh), and I have no other Chat plugins installed on this server. Any suggestions?

I'm having issues with IRC integration. The global IRC show settings aren't the way the information is being shown in game. And more importantly its sending every channel that doesn't have a rank requirement to join assigned to it, into IRC, instead of just global which is the one I set in herochat's config. It seems like they aren't working together.

I understand you are not going to add any future requests at this time because you are working on Heroes, but for the future I would like to suggest adding some kind of spam filter that is configurable how many messages/second can be sent for example.

    Thank you :)

Can I remove the chat "Global" from my server and make another chat who take its place? Great plugin otherwise!

  25. Can confirm this is still working with 1.7.1 and used with permissions 3.1.* - Although you will notice that the way this plugin is working (dev) it will NOT pick up 2x group's prefixes,

    Idea:

    Make the User prefix
    eg
    clanhere:
    permissions xxxxx
    prefix:'clanhere:'
    eastonch
    prefix:'mod:'
    groups:
    - clanhere

    So it appears in chat

Try using only globalUsers/globalGroups.yml as see if it works. :/

The "global" files are the only ones that get modified by McMyAdmin which means, last time I checked, "4,000+" servers are without colors and chat prefixes. I'd say this is a huge problem. It's certainly not mcma's fault, and probably not herochats (not sure), but maybe Permissions fault? Anywho, a workaround or something should be created until whoever get their stuff fixed.

  30. Offline

    Jeyge

How in the world could McMyAdmin writing to the wrong files not be their fault? Permissions 3.x was never meant to be used in that way.

  31. Offline

    piousminion

You CLEARLY don't know what you're talking about. It's not the "wrong" file. The "globalUsers.yml" and "globalGroups.yml" files are a creation of the Permissions 3.x developers and allow you to specify users and groups that affect all worlds. McMyAdmin, lacking complete multiworld support, takes full advantage of this feature of Permissions 3.x.

That said, either Herochat is oblivious to this feature, or the Permissions 3.x devs implemented their own spec incorrectly. It's likely the later, I'm simply suggesting a workaround until it's fixed correctly by those with the means to do so.
